I have to admit that I am also terribly confused by that post. To whom are you referring, Amalia? And what situation?

Oh, don't mind it. It was just a vent. If you really don't know whom or what I'm referring to, then all the better for it.

I just reread this in ebook form -- I never owned it as a child, so probably only read the library copy once or twice. Ellen Miles made Claudia seem stupid and greedy, although she did give her one of the cuter outfits I remember Claudia wearing -- an oversized red sweater over black leggings and red sneakers. Emeralds are my birthstone, so this particular instance of Stacey being a spoiled brat stirred up fond memories of me wanting to trick out my shiz and represent my birth month but it being prohibitively expensive, while January- and February-born girls got to rock a ton of birthstone gear. Mrs. Gardella's ring sounded really old-ladyish to me, not something I'd imagine a thirteen-year-old even liking, let alone stealing, unless it was to sell for the money. I pictured it looking something like this: ...while the birthstone rings girls wore when I was younger were basically just teeny solitaires, almost like these: I understand it was completely irrelevant to the story, but I was kind of irritated by Stacey not just getting a fake. I wear CZ jewelry pretty much every day, because I still don't trust myself not to lose it; real jewels are for special occasions only.

My mom was big on birthstones...I had earrings as a baby (she and I have the same birthstone, opal.) Then I had a ring that I wore for awhile until it became too small. More recently she bought me a really pretty ring with three opals in it, and about a year ago I noticed that one of the opals was missing. So I don't wear it anymore.

My birthstone was peridote, and I have a few jewelry items with it, like earings and I believe a ring that has some in it. I never went over the top crazy over my birthstone though.

Dawn trying to decide between two t-shirts at the mall--one with whales and one that has "Go For It" written on it--never gets old. It came down to those two, Dawn?
Mary Anne's chapter with Jenny, the one with that kid Joey Conklin, is SO BORING. And she called Jenny "sweetie" in it, which I found kind of weird. They never called their charges "sweetie" or "honey" or anything.
I love when Stacey answers a BSC call that's a wrong number, and Kristy's reply is "hmm." She flips out and is like "what do you mean by that? I guess you think I should quit the club, right?" and Kristy is like WTF Stacey.

Actually, I wanted one with a wolf on it that had something to do with preserving the environment.

I felt bad for Stacey when she caught Claudia going through her jewelry box and that she thought that Stacey stole the ring, especially since Stacey didn't accuse Claudia of cheating on her math test.
Like everyone else said, I'm surprised that the Gardellas let Stacey back to prove that she didn't take the ring and that they believed her about where she found it.

I just thought of this: it would have made more sense had Mrs. Gardella (at the end of her call to Stacey and Mrs. McGill) asked Stacey, possibly accompanied by her mom, to come over right there and then to help look for the ring. That way, there'd be less of a chance for Stacey (assuming she had taken it) to "find it." Dragging the situation on made it worse for everyone involved. ITA with the Mouse and Claudia comments. At least it wasn't Mary Anne (Middle School Mystery) who was the accuser.

Two thoughts occurred to me after rereading this. Considering this was so close to Claudia's cheating fiasco, why in the world would she not believe Stacey? She made such a big deal about how everyone believing in her was great etc....hey Claud think about that while snooping for rings.
And secondly, i apologize for the grossness of this, I was really hoping the dog had eaten the ring and that was why he had a tummy ache! I would have loved a scene where Kristy and Stacey are sitting and the dog poops on a priceless rug and whattttttt is shining from the pooh? Then Stacey pointing out the poop ring to the Gardellas and them having to fish it out! In my mind, this would have been a fitting end to this family b/c they really were not nice!
