I like the Kristy and Stacey parts too. Kristy and Stacey don't have much in common, but they are the two most business-like and professional members of the BSC which can bond them during moments like this, which I enjoyed. I like reading about Kristy and Stacey. We don't often see them hanging out on-one-one. I liked how they were both on the same page in #3 about trying to save the club, and I love Kristy's loyalty to Stacey in this book (unlike Claudia, Stacey's supposed BFF).

Kristy has her faults, but she can be very loyal. I love that she cared so much about clearing Stacey's name.

Reading this time I noticed that after Stacey had the fight with Claud because Claud was going through her jewelry box (gee, with friends like these, who needs enemies?), at the next club meeting, Stacey makes a big deal out of sitting on the floor with Mal and Jessi, with her back against the bed, instead of on the bed or in the desk chair so she won't be sitting next to Claud or facing her. Stacey does all this inner monologuing about it, and Mary Anne gives her a funny look ... but this was the exact same spot Stacey sat in during the previous BSC meeting, in Chapter 9, and there was no drama about it then at all!

Hey, I read a BSC book for the first time in ages! First of all, I love that the cat did it. Mwah-ha-ha. I'm a total pet person, so the Gardellas weren't that strange to me. The baby should have probably come with a few more instructions, but I get the pet thing. Tara looks freaky bug-eyed on the cover. Maybe they were avoiding her. I generally dislike Stacey, so I kinda liked that she was miserable. She was a brat from the beginning, and I'm very skeptical that she would have been so interested in a "birthstone" ring at all if her birthstone didn't happen to be a diamond. She was also obviously not an animal person which adds to my dislike for her. The part where she said "Here you go" and gave Mouse a toy and was then like "I can't believe I'm talking to a cat like it's a person! They're rubbing off on me." ticked me off. Did she literally not believe in speaking to animals? You don't need to baby talk to it, but why bother having a pet if you're not going to acknowledge its existence?

I think Stacey just never had a pet herself.

You don't have to have a pet to like animals. She gave me an icy vibe. But I talk to random birds and squirrels, so what do I know.

She was pretty good with Carrot. She just wasn't "close" to Mouse.

I just read this mystery and I really liked it. I know it didn't seem realistic but what does seem realistic in the BSC anyway? I've stopped expecting that kind of thing with these books. I liked seeing the girls all go to the mall together and act like girls their age. I'm surprised it was Claudia who didn't believe Stacey. I thought for sure it would be Dawn or even Mary-Anne. Mary-Anne didn't believe Claudia right away when she was accused of cheating. Also, I almost expected Stacey's mom not to believe her. Not because she seems that type, but more because of the fight she had with Stacey and she's a parent. Even some parents when they know their kids are trustworthy might have their doubts when something like that happens. Although that being said, I do admire Maureen for trusting Stacey right away. I just remember something like that happening to a friend of mine. She had a good track record, and then she got in a fight with her mom because she wanted to borrow her necklace but her mom didn't want her to. A week later the necklace went missing, and so her mom automatically thought she stole it. However, her father had moved it to a different place just in case my friend decided to borrow it anyway.
I thought the Gardellas were strange with their pets. I have two cats that I love a lot, and I spoil them but it's nothing to that extreme. If they ever divorce I could Mrs. Gardella becoming the crazy cat lady. Although maybe they'll be the crazy pet people. I'm surprised they would allow Stacey back in their house though, or that they believed her when she found the ring. A lot adults would just assume she wanted to go back to put the ring back. They would also assume she wanted to put the blame on the cat. I felt bad for Stacey, and I'm glad the ring was found but I'm just thinking that it's not that realistic anyone would believe that.
Also, I found the jewelery burglar kind of pointless. I understand why they put it in, but the plot could have been more developed instead of having all these coincidences. I think the reasoning for them to do that is because it was a mystery book, and so the readers would have that mystery to solve along with Stacey. I just feel it was just thrown in there. But then again this is book for 8 to 12 year olds.

^at least this book is more realistic than some of the later mysteries! Haven't read the rest of them yet, but I'm working in it. I'm reading each book as it comes available in ebook form. Just the first and second one are I think. I'm waiting until Monday to download the second one though. I always read the ebooks when I am on break at work. I can read these books fast, and then I send them back for a refund but you have a certain amount of days to refund them. So I want to wait until Monday.

Won't amazon ban you eventually? If they do, I won't get depressed over it. Free BSC ebooks are not that hard to find. Plus, if other people also do that, they'll probably get rid of the ability to return ebooks at all. (I have bought ebooks for my kindle by mistake and returned them immediately.)
