I actually enjoyed this book until the ridiculous ending. There could have been so much promise!

I thought that this book was more realistic when compared to some of the other mysteries, even though the ending was a cop-out. I like the Jessi and Stacey interactions.

I love any of the books in NY! I love reading about all the stuff in central park. Maybe one day I'll get to see it for myself - other that that - I must repeat others words of totally lame ending! I really liked this book but what a terrible ending.....and subplot!

I liked reading about their meal at Palm Court (I think it was called?) with the tea sandwiches. That always makes me hungry

My favorite part of this book was the dragon-making project with Becca and the younger Pikes. I also liked that Mr. and Mrs. Pike actually took their eldest 4 kids with them to the concert.
Question: Other than, once or twice with Vanessa and/or Haley did Becca interact with any kid other than Charlotte? It was good to see her away from Jessi but also with someone new. I like Char and everthing but never liked that for the most part she, too, only was paired with Becca (outside of the Krushers).

^I guess at least she had more of a likeable and general personality (except in this one and Big Break, maybe) than Hunter and Kerry Bruno.

I normally like the ny books but I was really bored on this read, probably b/c I knew the ending and knew it was dumb. Becca still really annoyed me. Couldn't she have gone with the family too an stayed with the babysitter like squirt did?

^Becca annoyed me too and I also don't see why she couldn't have stayed with the baby-sitter unless she really wanted to be at the wedding and that was the "real" issue. It sure sounded like she simply did not want to be left alone. I also had the thought that this might have been the perfect weekend for some of the Ramsey's NJ relatives to come stay with Becca and/or have Becca stay with them. I understand NJ is not near MA (wedding was there) but it would have been much more interesting than two books (this one and Jessi's Big Break) of the same sub-plot.

Bwahahaha! For some reason, when I looked at the title for this thread today I burst our laughing. It was all a rehearsal for a play. Talk about a wet blanket, limp noodle ... Shall I go on!? haha.

I don't like Becca's whining in this book OR in Jessi's Big Break. She's pushing 9...it's one thing to miss your parents/family, but it's another entirely to act like she did.

I agree it was really bratty and unrealistic for her to go on about it for as long as she did. It's not like the Pikes are strangers, and she was friends with Vanessa, now with Amy Porter I could understand, but come on!
The dragon activity seemed really cool if it was from this book.

I didnt mind this one because it wss set in NYC. Love it when the books take place in NYC because Ive always wanted to go there. The ending was stupid though and I also liked the Becca subplot.
The mistake annoyed me.

I have a newfound appreciation for this book. I used to dislike it because of the ending but now I find that the ending is actually more realistic than most, plus the fact that two 11-year-olds follow some men around the city makes them seem like the juveniles they really are. I enjoyed all of the NYC scenes - the fancy lunch at the Plaza Hotel, the walks through Central Park and the performance at the Lincoln Center. I also liked the fact that Jessi and Stacey hung out together in NYC since we don't see much of those two interacting alone together, except perhaps at a sitting job for the Pikes or something. Becca really bothered me in this book. I wanted her to get over herself a little. I understand she needed some adjusting and was probably sad that her entire family got to do something without her, but she was at the Pikes - a place she's been many times before - with one of her closest friends Vanessa so you'd think that she would be more excited.
