I think it generally seems random as well. But Peter was SO good at writing Stacey!

^ Agree. I also noticed that a lot of MA books start with her waking up from a dream but haven't noticed if this follows a pattern according to writer. Anyone else notice or know if AMM specified those plot elements or left it up to the ghost writer? I'm curious how the whole process worked and how involved she really was with each book.

I like Peter, Ellen, and Suzanne the most, too, but I also like Jahnna and Malcolm more than most people seem to. I actually like the way Nola Thacker refers to previous books -- my problem with her is that most of her books are boring!

Hahaha in one book Mary Anne dreams that she is Belle in Beauty and the Beast and is holding the dying beast in her arms begging him not to die, bending down to give him a kiss.... so I see MA either fantasises about hooking up with a beast or likes to go for the primitive type

Has anyone else noticed the trend of certain writers using certain words? There are like 4 books in a row, around Dawn's Big Date that use the word "zooey" ...usually about rambunctious children. I always notice it, and it drives me crazy, same with whomever writes ... "dawn's mom married mary anne's dad! Honest." or "Kristy's step-father is really nice and is a real, live millionaire! Honest." Or "Mary Anne's dad loosened up and let her cut her hair. Honest."
Did we have any reason to suspect the narrator of dishonestly?

^ I have noticed that but not a trend. I'll have to check now. Pandemonium is another word they frequently use. ;D The "real, live" millionaire always gets me - as opposed to a real, dead millionaire? ;D

^ hahaha!
I can't stand the "MA's dad married - get this - DAWNS MOM!" I dunno why it bothers me. Maybe it's the assumption that didn't know that and are gonna be so shocked. But then, we know everything that's frequently described in Chapter Two. I just think assuming we're going to be amazed by something we've read 500 times before is pushing it ;D

I shouldn't be noticing stuff like this, but it looks like Ellen Miles likes to do the 'theme' descriptions, like in Chapter 2 in #101 she describes the BSC by talking about what their abstract portraits would look like, or in another one what their ideal summer camp would be. It's an interesting pattern..

^Hahaha probably they were being just a tad snarky!
I liked Suzanne, mainly because she wrote Dawn's Big Date which is my fave BSC book ever. Peter seems to make the voices sound as if they're all the same, but he did write Stacey's Big Crush hilariously, if rather cringe inducing and creepy, it was still entertaining!

One of my gripes with Peter is that he makes them sound like Valley girls a lot of the time.

I had that gripe with Peter at times.
Aln, I also noticed that MA was often shown waking up from a dream. I actually have been noticing that more and more lately.

Another popular one is "Believe it or not..." I actually think that even Ann herself uses this a lot!
