^ Cary taking care of the kids always kind of scared me. I also never saw him as the baby-sitter type and for some reason, he just really gives me the creeps. Him watching the kids was the spookiest part of this one for me ;D He always (not sure why but this is just the vibe I get from him) seems like the type who will be nice to little kids just to secretly torment them.

^ He gives me the creeps too! I think it all stems from the part in Stacey and the Stolen Hearts where she finds him creepily sitting in the basement by himself. Weird!

Allie was the Martinezes' old babysitter and Beau was her boyfriend. I think the confession was that Beau was smoking and his cigarette caused the fire at the house. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

^ That was it from what I remember but it's been a while since I've read this one. I do like it pretty well, though. Also, wasn't Beau somehow involved with the twin (wasn't his name Fowler or something) who was trying to do something with the property? (can't remember what anymore ;D)

Oh, and what is with Ann/the ghostwriters and guys named Beau? There's another Beau in California Girls, the driver in Stacey's car wreck. I guess guys with this name cause trouble!!

^ Thanks. Basically all I could remember is that there were twins involved and they were doing something with the old property. Now I need to reread this one (the list keeps growing ;D)

^ I totally agree that this book had a lot of promise but the end just didn't live up to it. So their bad memory that led them to change their names was their mother dying? A day after they were born, so they didn't even know her? Doesn't make sense. I was expecting something way worse than that. Mary Anne's mother died when she was a baby, and you don't see her taking it out on Stoneybrook! Maybe someday... tee hee, just kidding. Seriously though, it's true, the whole twins thing at the end was really weird. I did like it coming together with the paint and all, but the twin thing.. ugh. So overdone! I agree though that Amalia seemed like a real doll - I would have loved to babysit her Poor Luke, having to hold a secret... I felt so bad for him.

I just read this one. Amalia (another unusual name AMM seems to like) is SO cute! I used to know a little girl with that kind of personality and she was the cutest thing. I picture her when I read the parts about Amalia, even though this kid was a couple of years older. I didn't like the resolution of the culprit being someone we'd never seen before, though. Also, when Mary Anne found the notebook with "BR" written in it over and over again, I thought it would turn out to stand for Benson Retlin. But I read it initially as being Luke's notebook for some reason. Needless to say, I was a bit surprised at where I thought the book was going
