Cute title. But way too predictable. Like I didn't see that coming! Interesting having Cokie play a role in this and she and Stacey kind of bonding during the orientation, over useful gossip, no less. I liked the part where she said: "Cokie has no personal sense of style. She thinks if a piece of clothing costs a lot and has some famous person's name on it, it must be cool." I knew girls like that in middle school, for sure! Claud usually takes part in any arty things related to what's going on (scenery for Peter Pan, scenery for that Thanksgiving play, etc.), but this one seemed so unrealistic. Intern for the art director or assistant to Roger Bellair or whatever it was. Wouldn't she just be in their way? But it was mentioned that she just ran a lot of errands anyway. Stacey's outfit on the cover is delightfully 90s. Thoughts on this one?

omg, i loved this book and stacey looks so gross on the front cover, nice hair and bell bottoms. yeah, this book was waaay unrealistic, but so was the whole series of bsc and mysteries.
i also thought some of the tricks that harmony played were freaky, she sounded a bit messed up to me. loved how cokie was in this book, shes hilarious. remember that agent guy of hers? and how he was trying to get rid of her. hehe
and roger bellair was an asshat, i remember he was always bossing claudia around and he and sydney deserved eachother.
overall, i really liked this mystery. it was fun and silly and one of the better books in the series i think.

I loved Stacey's outfit on the cover! I still love it. It's hilarious Claudia looks really strange on the cover, though. I remember when I first read it, 15 and 16 seemed really old. And now I look at magazines that use 13 year old models and I think "You are WAY too young to be wearing that sort of thing!". And then I feel old. The subplot in this was cool, with the anti-smoking campaign. I liked reading about it.

Heh! Dylan Trueheart...great name.
Oh, I forgot about the subplot. I liked that too...Watson dressing up in a tux to bury his cigars!

And Aunt Cecilia the secret smoker! Never pictured her to smoke.

Actually, I could imagine Aunt Cecelia smoking. The tough old girl. I could picture her barking at the kids in a Patty and Selma voice!

I didn't care much about the main plot of this book but loved the subplot - especially Watson. I had forgotten about it but thought it sent a great message. Aunt Cecelia was a surprise too and it made her more interesting, I thought.

I always thought it was odd that Mrs. McGill never found out what was going on. I know she was busy, but for no one to tell her was just irresponsible.

Another example of the BSC trying to "protect" their parents...

I think this book gets the prize for ugliest cover EVER. I don't think she looks 90's, though...that outfit and ESPECIALLY the hair are straight of the 1970's!!!
ETA: What was the other book where Stacey had a bad experience modeling? I thought that this was it, but it wasn't. I can't for the life of me remember what the other one was called!

I completly forgot about the subplot of this book. It is weird, I can see Aunt Cecilia being a smoker for some reason. I can't really pinpoint why.

Just reread and the subplot is always my favorite part of this one. I love Watson's "funeral" for the cigars. I like books that have a good message for kids (all readers, actually) and think this one does. Also picked up on a tie this time between the subplot and the models smoking. As for the mystery, maybe it is farfetched, overused and predictable but I still liked it pretty well and found the notes creepy. I felt for Harmony - her mom reminded me a little of Sabrina's mom from Little Miss Stoneybrook. I wonder if Rosie Wilder's mom will get that pushy someday. I liked Stacey's friendship with Sydney, too, and got a good laugh out of Cokie. Leave it to her to want to be a model. Probably not my favorite Stacey mystery (love Haunted Masquerade and the Valentine's Day one) but I definitely like it, especially the subplot.

This plot is too much like jessi and the dance school phantom.

^ I know but I liked that one too. ;D It is very similar, though. Who was the guilty one in Dance School Phantom and what was her exact motive? I haven't read it for a while.

The guilty one is this girl hillary and her motive was that she had a pushy mom.
