^ That is such a cute name for the cat. I guess I might have to reread because I really like the Craine girls. Maybe I'll just skim past Uncle Joe and the "mystery" and just read about the kids ;D

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but how come Mr. & Mrs. Pike didn't tell their kids that Uncle Joe had AD right away? Why did they wait until they were sending him back to the nursing home to tell them (other than plot purposes)? You'd think they would want their kids to know the truth instead of having them dislike and resent Uncle Joe for a month, but apparently not.
I just finished re-reading this one. I think I liked it better than the first time - I just love the Craine girls, and both Ghost Cat and Tinkerbell sound like cute cats. I loved the IQ tests the girls gave GC...and because it always needs mentioning...once again I cracked up over Mal thinking Aunt Bud will offer her a beer because she rides a motorcycle. It's things like that that make me both love and hate Mallory at the same time!

So true Fluffycakes, I never thought of that! The Pikes should have told them! Yeah, the beer line is a classic!

^ Did the Pike parents know about Uncle Joe or did they just suspect? I can't remember but if they did know, you're definitely right, fluffy, that they should have told the kids.

The beer line truly is classic. I've sat down to re-read this book and then not felt like actually reading it, so I just find that bit and have a laugh and then put it back.

^ Hee! I do the same thing!
I'm pretty sure that Mr. & Mrs. Pike were told when they went to pick Uncle Joe up from the nursing home that he probably had AD. So even if they didn't know for a fact, I still think that Mr. & Mrs. Pike should've told their kids earlier. But then again, I'm pretty sure they only didn't mention it until later for the sake of the plot.

Now I'm intrigued about whether or not they knew. I'm going to reread soon so I'll probably answer my own question and post then ;D I always enjoy the campout scene with the Craine girls. Times like that make me think Mallory would be a fun sitter ;D

I thought the same thing...
I have a feeling the Pikes only suspected it, and prolly didnt want to have to explain to the kids unless it was true.

I agree with Kylie, but don't remember for sure what actually happened. This thread makes me want to re-read it soon anyway. There are so many things I like about it -- Mallory making English muffin pizzas & telling us what an artichoke is, the beer thing, the cute Craine girls, and the Uncle Joe subplot. The only thing I didn't like was the ambiguous ending. I like my BSC mysteries to be solved!

Oh I forgot about the artichokes! She makes them sound so exotic!

haha, yeah she did make them sound exotic. I think she mentioned that they were a special treat to the Pikes. Kind of an odd thing to be eating with English muffin pizzas!

^ It actually sounds kind of gross together ;D But was it the Pikes who were eating them? They always have pretty disgusting food combos.

Not as bad as the Dewitt kids eating a sandwich with crushed jaffa cakes in it

what is a jaffa cake? the pikes food is so gross. I mean I know how they have that open fridge policy and like, lay all the food out to pick and choose but the Brewers do that as well and Karen ends up with normal pb&j's, chips and milk.
