I've been reading a lot of the Halloween books lately and noticed several costume descriptions. I wondered if anyone has a favorite or ones that they found particularly funny or cute. I always liked the one where all the Thomas-Brewers (I think it's them) go as the Wizard of Oz characters since my cousins and I did that one year. I also like it how Abby is the World Cup in Fright Night and thought Karen, Hannie, and Nancy's farm animals sounded cute. Kristy and Bart's Lobsters sounded ridiculous. I'm starting to keep my eyes open for more costume descriptions now and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on them.

I liked it in Get Well Soon Mallory when Vanessa went as a gypsy fortune teller, Nicky as Aladdin (and he strikes that stereotypical Aladdin pose by standing with his arms folded across his chest), Claire as a ballerina, the Triplets as pirates and Margo as a princess Also in Haunted Masquerade, they all wore those different costumes - Kristy - Amelia Earhart Claudia - Giant Twinkie (err... what the hell was Claudia thinking? Btw in the UK version it's a Giant Twix Bar). Mary Anne - Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz Stacey - Morticia Adams from The Adams Family Mallory - Ballerina Jessi - Cowgirl Abby - Lucy Ricardo from I Love Lucy Logan - The Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz Must have been a field day for Ann. She managed to put both a Wizard of Oz referance and an I Love Lucy referance on the same page! ;D Although I must say MA and Logan going as Dorothy and the Scarecrow sounds so cute!

when stacey goes as "mother time" in fright night i thought that was pretty stupid. i like the ones in masquerade the best i hope claudia made the twix wrapper part of her costume in the uk version; otherwise people would probably think she was dressed up as a turd

^ ;D A twix bar can kind of resemble..... I won't even finish that thought. ;D (I hate twix!) I am looking forward to reading Masquerade and those costumes do sound the best. I like the idea of Stacey as Morticia Addams. ;D

I thought Mary Anne and Logan going as cats was really cute. I never particularly liked Kristy's Amelia Earhart costume when I was young, but now I think it's great! I like Dawn's thrown-together-at-the-last-minute Pippi Longstocking costume in her Halloween mystery, even if we didn't get a whole lot of description of it. Oh, and also in Masquerade...Cary going as a chess piece (knight). Weird, but cool.

^I was a cat last night!
I've always wanted to see those lobster costumes.
Here's my description of the October picture from the 1990 calendar:
Mallory and early-‘80s Michael Jackson (okay, Jessi) are taking two little girls and a really creepy Munchkin trick-or-treating. One of the little girls is obviously Becca, who is dressed as Raggedy Ann. I assume the other little girl is Charlotte, because she’s about the same age and has brown hair, and we all know Becca and Char are inseparable. Charlotte might be dressed as Raggedy Andy. I’m not sure. She’s wearing a costume that’s a lot like Becca’s, but she’s not wearing a wig like Becca is and just has a regular brown ponytail. But I was thinking she might be an Andy as opposed to a second Ann, ‘cause she’s wearing these weird semi-overall things rather than a dress. The creepy little Munchkin is wearing a pirate costume, and the look on his face creeps me out. I have no idea what sitting charge he’s supposed to be. Mallory actually looks rather pretty, and she’s wearing a normal blue shirt, a black witch’s cap, a black cape, and an absolutely enormous black skirt. Jessi’s “costume” is minimal, yet completely bizarre. She’s wearing normal jeans, T-shirt, jacket, and sneakers… and this bright orange hat with bright orange antlers coming out of it. I have no idea what this means. It’s bright orange like hunters wear, but they’re antlers like a deer or a reindeer… seriously, thinking about it hurts my brain.

I think my favorite costumes were The wizard of Oz characters, I thought that was a really cute idea. Overall though I think the BSC books came up with some really cute Halloween costumes.

I don't have them scanned yet. First I have to get a 9.5 volt adapter for my scanner, and I keep forgetting to even look for one when I'm out shopping. And I know it'll take a while to edit my calendar scans when I do have the adapter, because the pictures are too big for my scanner so I'll have to scan each one in two parts.
I'll take a photo of the October picture with my digital camera, but there's no point in me trying tonight because the light in my apartment isn't good enough. I'll try tomorrow or the next day, because it'll look crappy unless I take it in natural light.

^are you sure you need a voltage adapter? when i lived in russia all my electronics from america worked fine - i just got a plug adapter. only things like hairdryers wouldn't work. i got my adapter off the internet and then another in a computer store in russia, but i had to ask the guy who worked there for it. computer stores in america have less variety of supplies though. also a store with a lot of traveling supplies, like sharper image or brookstone kind of stores, would have them.
if you couldn't tell it is now my goal in life to see this picture. it sounds amazing!

My favorites were the cat costumes that Mary Anne and Logan wore in #17.

It's like they just threw some random little boy in. He's too little to be Nicky, and besides -- I would think that the Pike kids would all go in a big group around the neighborhood. It could be Jamie, but I think his mom would take him and put Lucy in a stroller. It would have been more realistic to include Mallory's siblings, which would have made for a good picture -- all the triplets in matching costumes, and Claire being the center of attention. Yeah....no idea on Jessi's outfit. Why antlers? Why??? Why couldn't she have just put on some cat ears or something?
