^Can I just say, I love the quote under your name!
I didn't think it was the criminal, or the redheaded meter reader, but it was pretty convenient that she happened to love the Johannsens' house and told Stacey that, leading her to think either one of them could have been staying there...

The quote cracks me up every time I read it in SS #9. Dear Logan...
I know! And they both have red hair... So does the guy who's staying at the house. And Mal always makes such a big deal about how her red hair makes her stand out among the huge brunette/blonde population in Stoneybrook.
Wait... Mal should have been the one staying in the house! That would have made a great twist! *lol*

A number of you have mentioned that Dr. Johanssen should have mentioned that an old friend sometimes came over and used the house, but I think Stacey was the real problem. She was quite possibly the worst housesitter ever!
After a couple of the strange incidents had happened, I think Stacey should have taken Carrot and his necessary supplies over to her house if she was not able to contact the Johanssens about the problem. I also couldn't believe she decided the intruder would just go away and cause no more problems when the Johanssens returned. You know, if I were away with my family, I'd appreciate it if the housesitter let us know that she suspected a random stranger - potentially an escaped convict - might have been living inside the house before we set foot through the door. Even if Stacey had seen the note, she should have been worried. How do you know this guy is telling the truth?
Yeah, yeah, I know, without the girls keeping vital information from their parents and police, there would be no mystery . . .

I enjoyed this one, although the solution was quite the copout. Things were building up and I was getting a little creeped out. Carrot is so adorable. I loved the descriptions of how happy he was to see Stacey, and Mr. Manny Man I agree with moosieandgoosie about how Stacey should've handled it (love your username, btw )

Would any of you really trust a 13 year old to house-sit? One of the problems with my job is that I legally can not hold another job. So one of the ways that people make a little more money is by house-sitting. There is a lot of responsiblity involved, and a lot of creepy things have happened. I'm not entirely sure I would want a 13 year old, no matter how responsible, to be the person watching my house while I'm out of town.

Darn it, where was this stinking thread when I made the link list! Sorry, I didn't see it so I made a new thread that I can't seem to fully delete because someone else replied in it. I wonder if she deletes her post will that thread disappear?

I know some people like it to look like the house is occupied when they're away.

It depends on how long you're gone, I guess. You don't want your mail or newspapers piling up outside. Some people have plants that need to be watered. It's good to flush the toilet every once in a while so funky mildew stuff doesn't start to grow in the bowl. Actually I think house-sitting for a few days would be a fine job for a 13 year old. Any longer than that and I'd probably want someone a little older.

I don't Know...... I would Be Afraid they would Forget to lock the Door or something, I guess it would Depend On how responsible the 13 Year Old was. If i had To Choose Out of the BSC Though I would Probobly Choose Kristy, She Seems Responsible, Stacey Never seemed Ecspecialy Responsible If not less Responsible......

Why would you evn need someone to housesit? Well, what I do, and a lot of people that I know have done is: - feed, walk, spend time with dog - water plants -get mail -make sure all the doors are locked and no one has broken in -turn on car so it doesn't die if they are gone for an extended period of time -run the heating and cooling system and water It's really easy, but it's also really easy to forget. I'm not sure I would trust a teenager to look after my pets and house. And I really think 13 is way too young to have to be concerned about break ins and such. Also, housesitting is seriously weird and creepy. I feel so odd going into people's houses and not knowing their neighbors and being all up in their stuff.

We used to have a problem with a leaky roof. Long story short, someone had to come and sweep the water off the roof if it rained. Our neighbor was very nice and did it when we were on vacation. Of course, it rained the entire time we were away and he came three times a day to do the sweeping. He also took in the mail, newspapers, and random menus, as well as watering the plants.
It is hard getting a trustworthy housesitter though. We had one that used our washer and dryer (and left some socks as evidence) and ate our food, trailing crumbs thoughout the house.
