Just curious... has anyone else ever wondered how the BSC can run a business and put on festivals, carnivals, and camps without (as far as we know) having to get some kind of permit to do these activities? When I was a pre-teen, my friend and I wanted to start a babysitting business (wonder where we got that idea from? ;D), and her dad nixed the idea, saying we'd need to get a permit to run a business like that. Anyway, this is just something I've always wondered about .

The only book I ever remember addressing the issue was Kristy's Worst Idea, where she wanted to do the Fall Into Fall thing, and Watson was asking her questions about getting permits and stuff. In every single other book, it was never mentioned, except for occasionally getting permission from the elementary school to do something there.

Wasn't that part of the movie plot? It was decided that they didn't make enough money to have to get a permit.

for the fall into fall project, didn't kristy literally want to close down the streets to throw a block party? that would require a permit for sure, and probably part of the reason it never happened.

^I think she did. I do think for the Baby Elephant Walk Watson helped make phone calls to close down some streets for the march.

With some notable exclusions, some of the stuff they wanted to do were private parties, like the Valentine's Day Party... I'm not really sure how they got around the day camp business though, even that seemed dodgy to me when I was 10.
