I'd be afraid to see an LA Halloween parade!

Me, too! There is a Halloween parade in the part of LA I live in. Let's just say it isn't kids marching in it and I keep a far distance.

Yep, sort of like some other parades around here. I really did think the kids' parade sounded like fun in Stoneybrook. Although, it reminds me of being disappointed at never getting to see Jamie dressed as Georgie the Ghost (MA's Bad Luck Mystery) marching in his nursery school parade. I would have loved reading about that.

Did anyone ever read the books about Georgie the Ghost? They're real books, but the only place I ever heard about them was in BSC (I was just reading LS #10 and Georgie is mentioned in that as well).

^They are real? That is awesome. I just Googled and found this: georgietheghost.com/Books.html I'll have to check the library catalog. Thanks for the "reminder" Wanderingfrog. Jessi telling Jamie about Georgie was one of my favorite moments of the series--so sweet.

Yes, I remember them from my own childhood. There was an owl and there were people called Whittaker

Sure, I read them, too! I don't remember them being favorites when I was a kid, but they weren't unfamiliar to me when I first saw them mentioned in the BSC.

I had to force myself to get through the first half of this book, but then the second half I really, really liked, who knows why.
There was a part in the book when Mallory is talking about that famous writer she sees in Salem (whose name escapes me ...?) and she is saying, I'm paraphrasing, "I don't want to annoy her with questions. Questions like 'Where do you get your ideas from?'. Writers hate questions like that".
I definitely think that is Ann throwing some 'shade'!

^Martha Kempner. I just found out there is an actual author by that name, and she's a sexual health expert. Just what kinds of books is Mal reading?! Looking forward to reading this again as the Halloween season approaches

This was a pretty good one. I've always loved the Super Mysteries. It makes me sad that 1) There's only 4 of them and 2) I haven't been able to find copies of any of them since deciding to recollect them =(
I like their spontaneous Halloween costumes.

I think they just happened too late in the game. I'm doing a chronological read-through of the series, and the first Mystery book doesn't happen for quite awhile (after #46). So it took them a few years to decide to start doing the Mystery series of the books (as opposed to the lame "mysteries" that occasionally happened during the regular books). I'm guessing it just didn't occur to them to do the Super Mysteries til it was too late. I can't remember when they started, but fairly late in the series. I just know that SM #2 has Abby in it, so yeahhhhhh.... You don't want to ruin the schtick by having too many of them in a row. Plus between all the ghostwriters, there were like, 3 or 4 BSC books every two months (usually two regular ones, and then a Mystery or a Super Special, plus the Portrait Collection and random odd ones) during the later part of the series.
