haha... I never even heard of eloise when i first read thsi book...then when the movies came out i was like "That's that Eloise that's mentioned in Stacey's book!"
or something like that
Haven't seen the movies though.

^ I did the same thing. When my little cousin knew all about Eloise, I was like "I know her too! Stacey went to the Plaza to be like her!" ;D

^ If I recall correctly, Claud comes to visit Stacey in NY, and is pretty moody. One minute she's having a blast, and the next she's withdrawn and kinda persnickety. Finally the girls talk it out, and Claudia says she's having a hard time in NY because it means that Stacey really lives there, and not Stoneybrook anymore. But then they vow to be BFFs and everything's good again.  |

^ I totally don't remember that chapter. For some reason, I was thinking that it was about Stacey and Claudia meeting for the first time. Is that in one of the books or did I just imagine it? ;D

^ That would've been a more interesting chapter to read about! Especially since the real Claudia chapter seems to parallel her behaviour in Stacey's Mistake. I could be wrong, but I don't think we ever got to see Stacey and Claudia meet.

I remember Stacey saying in Goodbye Stacey Goodbye that she didn't know whether to hate Claudia when they first met or hope they'd become best friends... that would have been a very interesting chapter...

Totally loved the Eloise mentions -- I have the book from when I was younger, and I think it's a million times better than the movie. Didn't Jessi mention Eloise at some point? Was it in the super special?

I'm almost positive that at some point, Stacey describes literally running into Claudia on the first day of seventh grade, and they were both wearing off-the-shoulder sweaters. Who would win the sophistication-off?

I think so. I think it's when they're all in the cafeteria and Stacey's just told them she's moving. They start doing "remember when..." and Claudia asks "remember when we first met?"

I just read Kristy's comment in Mother's Day surprise about Stacey and Claudia first seeing each other and wondering who would be the coolest dresser (or something like that). I wonder if this is what I'm remembering. I can't believe the Claudia chapter isn't in the Portrait. Is it in Claudia's Book?
