^ I loved Kristy and MA's friendship in this books. You could really see how Kristy kind of protected and looked out for MA. I think she might have missed that role once Mary Anne started speaking out for herself a little more and also when Dawn became her friend.

Raising her fists and saying she was going to have a talk with Alan Gray with them. ; ^ That would have been so cute to see. With little Kristy and her cute little fists. Aww.

^ I wish they would have had a picture of that one, too. I can just picture Kristy with her baseball cap and all ;D I really enjoyed reading about Kristy and MA's friendship in this book. It also gave me some insight into how Kristy might have been hurt and jealous when Dawn came along and sort of "replaced" her (at least that's how she might have felt) after all those years.

^ Agreed. It was bad enough already that she had to move away from her but now a totally new girl is trying to horn in on their relationship.

well, to be fair, dawn DID make an effort to be friends with kristy (them in the barn jumping in the hay or whatever) and WAS mad when she found out mary anne was just using her to get back at her old friends. so i don't think dawn ever intended to steal mary anne away, she was just excited when she made a friend.

^ Oh, I totally don't blame Dawn. Just saying I can understand Kristy's jealousy. I always liked how Dawn tried to be friends with Kristy and think that Kristy really did (especially being Kristy ;D) make an effort to be friends with her. I can just understand better where the tension came from and think it was inevitable no matter how nice Dawn was (and she was nice )

I always thought of Dawn and Mary Anne as real sisters than stepsisters or best friends. The way they fight all the time and all. ;D Still I can understand Kristy's jealousy at first.

Okay still in the middle of his one(rereading it) and something jumps out at me... a discrepency between this book and Claudia's book (not sure which one came first) I swear in Claudia's book she's in Ms. Ellison's class and Kristy adn mary anne are in another one ,, yet in this one , Mary Anne's in Ms. Ellison's class and Claudia and Kristy are in another... that's aggravating!

^ I know! In Mary Anne's Portrait, MA is in a fourth class on her own, whilst Claudia and Kristy are in a different one. BUT in Claudia's Portrait, Kristy and MA are in a different fourth grade class from her. d**n those ghostwriters! ;D

^ The school situation is always such a big inconsistency. All the way into SMS. ;D I don't even bother trying to keep it straight now. ;D

Me neither! It's just like how the fact that Claudia was in another school for the first part of grade four is only mentioned in Claudia's book. I've given up a long time ago trying to keep everything straight, it's not worth the effort!

^actualy left after christmas breka and then came back... she was there during the first semester I guess. I didn't mind that cause this book seemed to take place in teh first part of fourth grade... however that drove me nuts saying claud was in one class alone in one book and with kristy in another class in this book. GRRR could at least have gotten THAT much straight.

I think, in this book, Kristy and Claudia wanted Mary Anne to see if she could transfer into their class but Mary Anne didn't want to because she liked her teacher?
