Read this thread and sorry to go off topic - but I'm not the only one whose copy of Dawn's Book lost a couple of the last few pages? I've always tried to take good care of books and remember being upset when I noticed pages falling out of that book shortly after I got it. I'll feel better if the problem lies with Scholastic's QC and not me

Does someone have all the books? So we could make a list of who got what grade?
I would, but I'm not at home.

At your service, Kylie Kristy: Mrs. Simon gave her a B+ Page 145 Claudia: No Teacher's Name was given. However it does say "She" in reference to the teacher so I'm guessing Mrs. Hall? That was Claud's teacher in Claudia's Friend. Anyway, Claudia received an A for Content and Design. Overall Grade of a B- Page 161 Stacey: Got an A. No Teacher's Name Given. No page number. It's on the page adjacent to the blurb about AMM. Mary Anne was given the highest grade of everyone, an A+ Mrs. J Belcher was her teacher. (Same as Abby). Page 155. Abby: Received an A from J. Belcher. Page 143. Dawn: At Vista in CA her teacher for this was Janet Granger. Content A-. Presentation B (Page 149). FYI, to any extra curious BSC fans, Dawn's overall Grade, if she got just one, is not stated.

Hmm, that Mrs. Belcher must have been an easy grader for Abby to pull off an A. I thought Kristy was supposed to be one of the more studious club members and she only managed a B+.
I wonder if they averaged the two scores to get the final grade, which would put Dawn at a B+. That would mean Claudia got about a D on the actual writing, which is sad but believable.

^ to be fair, i loved abby's portrait, so maybe mrs belcher did too.
somehow i find it hard to believe that every single bsc member got an A or B of some sort. those grades are considered above average and to be honest, some of the chapters were really boring. i seriously can't make it through the tooth fairy chapters. i skip them everytime.

I got the impression that the majority of the girls literally did their "Books" the weekend before they were due. At least Kristy and Abby did for sure. Wonder how much advance time they were given? Though, I was an excellent procrastinator as a student myself at times so probably shouldn't talk. Overall Grade-wise, I have always felt Kristy earned straight A's without much effort. Unlike Shannon, though, I don't think Kristy had the same devotion to school just that she was academically gifted. Mary Anne as earning 90%+ A's, with possibly a B thrown in. Stacey, possibly a little more even in A to B ratio, but still above above average. Dawn, I think possibly got more B's than A's. (Lol, no not just because she's one of my least favs--it seemed like schoolwork did not come quite as naturally to her as the others). Still Dawn did well. Abby, it didn't sound as if cared much about school or did that well--at least in comparison to the other girls. It would have been interesting if learning/studying issues had come up more for her. Perhaps a bond with Claudia could have resulted. That brings me to Claud. I think she was probably lucky if she ever got mostly C's. Mal, probably more like MA or at times Kristy. Jessi, I don't know. What do you guys think? The Portraits themselves, I have not read them in a long time, but will shock some of you by saying I think overall I enjoyed Abby's the most, with the exception of when she arrived in CT. That began her transition into purposely making fun of people and not being a character I cared for. My favorite overall moment was the handprints. Mimi. Loved Kristy watching DM and Louie standing guard. Back on topic, ITA that the tooth fairy chapters in Claud's book were boring. Her actual dentist visit was too.

I feel like Jessi mostly got B's with an occasional A and occasional C. I think that Jessi got an occasional C in math because I think it was in Jessi's Secret Language when Jessi talked to her mom and Janice said how Jessi never managed to raise her math grade from 75% (I think) in Stoneybrook to the same grade she had in Oakley and 75% is a C, at least where I live, it is. And if Jessi is to be believed when she said that she practically became bilingual in Spanish while she was with her family in Mexico, then she would probably be getting an A in language.

It sounds like something Mal would have done after hearing about the eighth graders project, just for fun! I agree! She totally would have!

I can see Mallory doing her own portrait after finding out about the project. I think that Mallory would have a lot of fun writing her own portrait.

There was no way Abby wasnt going to get an A after writing about her dads death - Her teacher would have been seen as really heartless if she had given her anything lower than that, after she had gone into such depth (even I had a tear in my eye and I didn't even like Abby)

This isn't exactly related to the grades but I didn't know where else to put it ...
Did anyone else notice that the order of the Portrait Collection goes by the number of votes received for America's Favourite babysitter? 1. Stacey 2. Claudia 3. Dawn 4. Mary Anne 5. Kristy (6. Abby, although she wasn't considered for the vote as this was before her time). Mal and Jessi didn't get a Portrait Collection, partially because they were in Gr. 6, but they also weren't included in the survey.

When was the favorite sitter survey held? Meaning how much time was between the survey and the portrait books? I can't believe Kristy was least favorite. It was "her" series.

Was there a survey, or did they go by book sales? edit: huh, I just read virgoscorpio's post and I don't remember this contest AT ALL...

It's in the back of one of the book in the 20s...let me check...
It's in the back of my copy of Mary Anne and the Search for Tigger (old cover). On the very back page.
edited to add: It says America's Favourite babysitter and then in the block letters it says Treasurer.
