Does anybody know why they weren't done? Were the previous Portrait collections unsuccessful? I know they said that it was an eighth grade assignments but it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to make it for the rest of the school as well. After all, Dawn had the same assignment in California! Anyway, I wish they were done. It would be really interesting to find out more about Jessi's life in Oakley and her friendship with Keisha (as long as they didn't make every chapter about her being black, which I could actually see). You know how some of the Portrait Collections had chapters set during the time the series was set? I really liked how Mary Anne's was an embellishment of an event mentioned in another book (visiting her Grandma). I know what would be good for Jessi. Remember in Dawn's Big Move, she talked about going back to Oakley and how much it changed? It would be interesting to see it expanded on. It would have also been neat to see more about Mallory's early life, like when all the kids were younger.

I think it's partly because Mallory and Jessi weren't as popular as the other sitters. In the later half of the series, they were sort of being phased out. They didn't have as many books as the older girls. If they'd been popular characters, I'm sure Ann M. and the ghostwriters would have given them a portrait collection.

Well, I for one wished that Mallory and Jessi had portrait collections. Particularly Mallory! Come on, she wasn't a popular character, but her books were always good for a laugh.

It would have been interesting to see what the Pike brood were like when they were younger. How about a Sea City chapter with 3 year old Mallory, 2 year old triplets, 1 year old Vanessa and newborn Nicky?
Guess there wasn't enough of a demand. I'm sure it didn't help that they were the dorky 6th graders.

I know I didn't pay much attention to them, myself, when I was younger. It had to have been a popularity issue. Wasn't Stacey the fan favorite, I know her portrait was the first to be written.
I like the juniors a lot better now, and Mal feels to be more fleshed out than Jessi, so a Jessi portrait collection could have been interesting. Expanding on the return to Oakley is a great idea, fairy3lf2. The story of Squirt's birth was already mentioned in Babysitters Remember, so I can't think of anything else for her...maybe the beginnings of her interest in ballet. I would have loved reading Mal's too.

Abby got a Portrait Collection and she had only just arrived! Was there really a high demand for one or were they just trying to promote her more?

Well Jessi "got" the last Super Mystery and there were only 4 of those. She actually got quite a few Super Specials too. I think Kristy and Dawn had the most. Did Mallory have any?

I think that had more to do with pushing her on the readers than her actually being popular.
I could get behind a Mallory Portrait Collection.

When we did Viva Las BSC! over on Fametracker, MeanJanine organized everything. She made an outline of which characters would have which chapters, then anyone could sign up for them. It worked pretty well. I think that's what we should do. One person should be in charge of the outline (i.e. what ages will be featured and how many chapters per age) and sign ups.
I, personally, would love to write a chapter on Mallory and her friends before Jessi moved to Stoneybrook. I've always wondered about those racist, bitchy girls.
