This book could almost be a regular BSC book, because it’s so rare to see a ‘mystery’ where the club isn’t running around, taking over the police’s jobs--cracking crimes and catching jewel thieves. It’s amazing that the Stoneybrook police put up with all their crime solving! ;D
I'm actually surprised that MA's grandmother waited so long to get in touch with Mary Anne. I'm still confused why she just didn't come to see Mary Anne earlier.... You'd think she'd want to come for a visit to Stoneybrook, and see her granddaughter once in a while...
I didn’t like the end of the book with the ‘handwritten’ chapter. Mary Anne doesn't exactly have the greatest handwriting, no matter how much the other girls in the club rave on it. It took me forever to read those last few pages.
Oh, and my favorite part has got to be when the “social worker” shows up!! ...and Mary Anne gets all flustered when Logan appears with his shirt off.

It’s amazing that the Stoneybrook police put up with all their crime solving! ;D I totally agree with this comment. I just imagine that the police set up certain "mysteries" just so the BSC members could solve them. It would be sort of the police doing some kind of an after-school program service for them, helping young minds develop good deductive skills, and without those little runts knowing it, so it wouldn't feel so much like school.

I can't imagine being in Mary Anne's situation. She had a lot to deal with: finding out that her mom's parents were alive AND that she had lived with them for a while, plus worrying that her dad was sending her back out there...Poor MA. I loved this book, though. I even got a little teary-eyed when she was reading the letter from her mom. I'm such a softie. :-)

I know you miss your little girl but it's best she stay here with us for awhile. In the meantime, here are some pictures of her playing with the goats to tide you over! Hahahahahaha....That had me laughing so hard booboobrewer ;D

^ I thought that was kind of mean of MA's grandparents - selfish, at least. I felt bad for Richard in this one. First he loses his wife and then almost his daughter (even though he did send her away at first, it was just because he was trying to do the best thing for her)

I couldn't imagine what I would do in Richard's situation, he was only doing what he felt was best.

Again, this one could be a regular book. It really was a great one, though alot ddin't mesh up. I actually did tear up quite abit when Elizabeth recounts what richards said about MA... that was so sweet.

this is one of my favorite mysteries...maybe because it's not so mysteryish. Can only imagine what Richard went through. I always try to think the best of the BSC members and their parents...well the ones that are around (unlike Kristy's dad), so I do think he did what he thought was best. I even liked the subplot in this one

^ Totally agree, Blossom. I think this is one of my favorite mysteries, too, even though I also like the "mysterious" ;D ones. I really enjoy reading about people's pasts so that might be what I like about it. As a kid, I remember not being able to put this one down until MA found what the letters said and found out the whole story. Even now that I know what will happen, I still have trouble putting it down ;D Is this the one with Heritage Day? I always like that subplot because I like genealogy and anything to do with history. I think MA looks really pretty on this cover, too.

Am rereading now and really enjoying it. There is nothing like a favorite book ;D I think this is one of my favorite MA books. I really get a sense of what she is feeling and no matter how many times I read it, this book always makes me kind of emotional. The part about how she sees Mimi's grave at the cemetary seems quite realistic and makes me feel for her even more. Not only did she lose her mom but also the only "mother" figure she had. I never cared much about this part before but this time, I've really noticed it. Funny how different parts of the book become important after tons of rereadings ;D

^It's true. The heritage day subplot was great in this one too The end was rushed though :/

^ Yeah, I wish they would have told more about MA's visit to her Grandma's and how she decided to go, how the other girls and Richard reacted, how she felt about it all, etc. But I guess they ran out of space ;D Maybe another book as a continuation would have been good. They did tell a bit more about the visit to IA in MA's Book, which I always get confused with this one's ending.
