This is one of my favorite books. I wish they had told a little more about her visit with her grandmother.

^ I do too. Have you read MA's Book? That is where the bigger description is (even though I always forget and expect it in this one ;D) It did seem to end kind of abruptly with the visit but I guess they ran out of room. ;D A lot of the mysteries seem to do that.

I read it years ago when it first came out. All I can remember them doing is finishing the quilt that her grandma had been making for her mom's 25 birthday.

There is something comforting about a familiar book and one of your first BSC books, I think. ;D I really like this one and always have. It’s the book that introduced me to so many things in the BSC. I still remember why I picked it (I wasn’t big into the BSC but just got a few here and there) because I thought the plot sounded similar to Ghost at Dawn’s and Mystery Diary, which I had read and really enjoyed and because MA looked pretty on the cover. I think this will always be my mental picture of MA as it’s one of my favorite covers for her. I love the whole Heritage Day thing and it sounds like so much fun. I wish our school would have gotten to do a project like that (if we had to do a project ;D) Vanessa’s “epic” had me laughing, as did all the Pike projects, and I enjoyed Charlotte doing the genealogy research as I am also into genealogy. The Rowdowskys at the courthouse was the scene that introduced me to that family and made me like them and its still one of my favorites. ;D

This one was kind of emotional. It wasn't exactly a mystery but I liked it anyway. Must have been hard to accept a truth like that one.

It's true, it is one of the bigger BSC books (in terms of revealing or changing plots) and I picture MA on the cover too.

I must be alone, but I don't really like this book. I remember liking it when I read the books the first time, but my recent re-read was not as entertaining. It was ... dare I say it... boring? I don't know why, exactly. Maybe because I don't see what the big deal is, and I want to slap Mary Anne for being all angsty about being sent to Iowa (Nebraska? Kansas? Something in the middle and square? or was it Maryland?) when she was a baby. She doesn't remember it, and she obviously gets along with her father now, so what on earth was the deal? I do not know.
However, I thought her freaking out over the "social worker" was great. And logan with his shirt off? Risque!

I felt for MA in this book. I would be traumatized if I learned the secret she did. I probably would have talked to my dad right away about it, but that's just me and I'm a lot bigger on communication than MA. It's never her strong point. ;D I also like this one for the whole idea of finding something in the attic. I love going through old stuff and finding old papers and things (though I wouldn't want to find something like the secret MA discovered....) ;D

I loved the scene where the "social worker" shows up and Logan has no shirt, and his hair is full of yellow paint and standing straight up. Funny as hell! I felt for MA as well. Here she's thinking she has no relatives and she's got grandparents in Iowa that she never knew about. Well, I guess the grandpa had already died when Verna phoned Richard, but you know what I mean. I remember MA thinking (before she found all that stuff in the attic) that she had no idea who she really was. Sad.

^ That scene is definitely funny. Also, there is something intriguing to me about Logan with his shirt off. ;D (not considering him as a 13 year old and me as an adult but seeing us both on the same age level ;D)

Lol, aln you crack me up with your stuff about Logan. That has to be one of my favorite scenes in all of the series, just because the image is so funny in my mind.

^ ;D For some reason, there's something about Logan I find attractive (If I was 13, of course ;D I'm not a sicko pervert ;D)

Aln, I had a crush on him when I was younger, so I agree with you. My boyfriend right now is much like what I imagine pre-controlling Logan to be.
