I kind of enjoyed this one more than the other Super Mysteries just because I hadn't read it before, so it was kind of exciting (it's cool to read a BSC book for the first time). I actually liked all the plots, but thought Claudia and Staceu acted REALLY dumb in this book. WHY did they answer the note and go to the basement? Of heck no, who cares about solving the mystery? Their safety is more important and they should've told Mr. McGill. Carl is weird and for some reason I didn't really understand his involvement (in my defense, I'm getting over covid).
Just realized, unless I missed something, they never got to see Ethan's sculpture. Also, I guessed he was planning a surprise way before he said it. They really never considered that? Around Christmas? Come on. I did like Ethan and Claudia bonding over art, though.
I liked the Lisa storyline the best, somehow it stood out to me as the most interesting. While I liked the robbery storyline, it annoyed me that they didn't connect the dots about "naughty" and "nice" earlier and that Kristy forgot about the note. HOW DO YOU FORGET ABOUT A NOTE LIKE THAT? WHAT?!
Why did Jessi write the entire prologue and epilogue? I luckily don't have a problem reading cursive, but it's still very unnecessary. Why didn't they show the postcards they got like in other Super books? Also, I only have the Kindle version and the writing is actually an image. Part of it is cut off so it's very confusing. Argh.
So all in all, I actually liked this one, but there are definitely some kooky parts.
