I burst out laughing when i read "You can't baby-sit, the johanssen's aer OUR clients."Dude stacey has a problem with the bsc not with charlotte Chapter twelve was like a bad game of telephone it reminded me a lot of dawn and the dream boy video tape where kristy"s all like "claudia could you ask stacey to ask jessi to ask mallory to ask dawn and mary anne how long they're going to conitinue this ridiculous game of telephone?" The whole "Jessi call becca to call charlotte to call stacey and ask her if we can use the boombox" was a little...crazy? I was just nodding my head. I knew it was chester the second mojo (?) signed "food" that was obvious

One thing I liked about this book was how Mary Anne named her emu. First of all, I loved that she chose the emu - I have a love for those birds, from when I was a kid. At the Bronx Zoo, there is (or was, they might've changed this) a huge chain-link fence alongside the emu enclosure with a walkway right next to it. One of the emus started following me and my dad, just walking alongside us all, "Hey, how are ya? Nice day, huh?" and even stopped when we did, allowing me to get a great picture of it. Since then, I've loved emus - and then that she named it Edith. It just strikes me as a really good name for an emu.
I also loved the bit about Carrot barking when "strange people" come to the door. Stacey getting her b*tch on can be good times.

I had forgotten about Edith the Emu. ;D There were parts of this book that I really liked but for some reason, I could never get into the actual mystery much. My favorite thing about it is it reminds me of a bio project I once did with animal observations. ;D I think the other thing I liked was Alan being in it and found his interaction with MA and Logan interesting. What was the subplot? It's been a while since I've read it.

^ I forgot about Babar. That was cute and baby elephants are adorable! Now I remember that I read this book right before going to Disney's Animal Kingdom and kept saying "there's Babar" (even took a picture, I think ;D) every time I saw a baby elephant. I was getting some strange looks. ;D

I just read this one for the first time and liked it a lot. I loved reading about the zoo and the animals, and Mary Anne's group. The Elephant Walk was so cute, and so was the kids' button-making and letter-writing. The gorilla-themed party at the end was a nice touch--loved the jokes everyone made about the banana cake. Oh, and that's pretty funny that they mentioned Alexander Kurtzman again, and Kristy saying that since Shawna Riverson was on his team, she probably cheated!

Omg this drove me nuts when i was reading it. They were asking for a $5 donation at least for the buttons ,and they went all crazy cause a soda cost a WHOLE DOLLAR at the zoo. Okay this was at least the 90's... come on

^ A 20oz bottle of soda costs $3 at my local zoo, and ice cream sandwiches go as high as $4. That's dumb, considering you can get whole BOX of the exact same thing at the grocery store for the same price.

I read this for the first time this weekend and it was okay. I to figured it all out when Mojo signed food. BTW MOJO? Every time I read that name I thought of Austin Powers.
Stacey's big scene was everything I was expecting. Great.
What bugged me was the protesters. Saying that its cruel to keep the animals in such small cages. This was copywrited in 1995. By then it was common knowledge that the animal's habitats were being destroyed and that poachers were more dangerous than ever. Most zoos had gone from simply being a tourist business venture to preventing species extinction. I wish the book had pointed that out.

^ Agree about the protesters. That always bothered me, too. I don't advocate cruelty to animals or anything but sometimes think animal rights people take it too far. At our fair, we always had to get instructions at the opening meeting on what to do if people started going after us about being "cruel" and keeping our horses in the stalls. Never had it happen but some people get really extreme, I guess. In my opinion, my pony has it better than horses in the wild as she's standing in her heavily bedded stall that is as big as a lot of people's bedrooms (definitely bigger than David Michael's closet before he moved ;D), wearing a nice warm blanket with plenty of food and water. ;D

I've heard someone compare horseback riding to keeping slaves. No joke. So I agree with you, aln. (Alf would totally have itched his face on their backs - his equivalent of laughing in your face - he was sooooooo spoiled, and loved horse shows.)

^ People are so strange. ;D My pony loved horse shows and really misses it, I think. She's 30 this year and I don't know of many who live that long in the wild so..... Was Pete in MA's group or just Alan and Howie? I always enjoy reading about MA and Pete as I see potential for a relationship there.
