I think only Howie and Alan were in MA's group. I believe Pete's group was mentioned, but I forget who he was with. I want to say he was in the winning group, but I could be wrong. I didn't pay much attention to details in this one. That's awesome about your pony, aln! I don't know anything about horses...how long do they usually live for? Is 30 normal?

^ Thanks. I was thinking he wasn't in her group but couldn't remember. As for horses, they usually only live until their 20s but ponies tend to live longer. I've known some to live until their late thirties but usually even the late 20s is considered pretty old. My little shetland pony, though, lived until he was in his late thirties. I am slowly preparing myself for the inevitable but.... (I won't be reading Kristy and the Snobs while thinking about that. ;D)

Aww, I love Shetlands. My aunt and uncle had one when I was little, and I would visit them on the weekends and ride him. I think he lived for a pretty long time as well.

^ I wish there would have been a shetland or little pony in a BSC book. Imagine the club giving pony rides. ;D

^ Agreed! But in all honesty, I'm quite surprised they never did. I just googled shetland ponies, and they are so cute! Too bad Elivra was some stinky goat and not a pony.

I just reread and liked this one a lot more than usual - even the mystery. I also picked up on some funny stuff that I had always missed before. Alan, especially, had me laughing several times. So did Howie. Their outfits for the stakeout and Alan saying "I'll head them off at the pass!" to which Logan responded that they probably weighed 400 pounds gave me some great mental images. ;D Maybe I just needed a good laugh today but I got it from this one for the first time.

Good book! Really, I thought Alan was behind it! Glad he wasn't. The Alan VS Logan thing was so immature on their part. Poor Maryanne....she had to get stuck with Alan and Kristy?!? I can't believe she was paired up with Stace!

i googled shetland ponies and their bellies are close to the ground... kind of weird looking i used to a ride a welsh mountain pony, which is also small but they look just like small-scale horses.

^ Aren't shetlands cute? ;D I think the actual "breed standard" for shetland gives them a whole different look than what I and most people think of when hearing "shetland", meaning just a really little pony. I posted a link to a picture of one of my old ones if anyone wants to see him. This one is really fat. ;D Not all of them are, though. My old, old one who I had for 14 years from the time I was a baby until he died wasn't this fat (but actually looked a lot like "Shane" who is shown in the picture) My ponies that I showed are basically small horses. Actually, I hope mine hasn't grown any now because that will put her over the height limit for showing in her pony breed..... i178.photobucket.com/albums/w253/aln1982/shane.jpg

^ Thanks. He was fun. I actually had him to train him better and sell to a little kid (he went to a precious 5 year old named Shawna who had fun with him for years) and did ride him, even though my legs practically touched the ground. I would love to see some ponies in the BSC books, even though I never liked reading Saddle Club and things like that. Pony rides (not the circle ones at fairs - those can be cruel) are always fun for me to think about. ;D

^Your pony's really cute aln,and I agree with greer,it looks like a toy . BTW I liked Mary Anne and the Zoo Mystery too . And another thing is I found it kind of weird that they were willing to drink out of the same soda - Alan, Howie, and MA. Didn't they worry about germs? I agree that they shouldn't be drinking out of the same soda . I DEFINITELY agree. Mary Anne looks really ugly there ;D. ^ She did seem kind of stocky didn't she? I guess the illustrator had gorillas on his mind still when he drew MA. LOL ;D

^drinking out of the same soda doesn't bother me. i think it strengthens your immune system. ;D
people who are germphobic and always sanitizing everything with purell seem to get sicker.

^ I'm not quite a germphobic (though I tend to pick up EVERYTHING - some people just have crappy immune systems I think ;D) but do think a lot of things are gross and like to be clean so the soda thing totally grossed me out, too. I know lots of people do it, though. I just know I wouldn't. ;D I especially wouldn't share something with Howie and Alan, who aren't close friends and "icky" boys anyway. ;D
