Did you ever notice that all the lighter haired sitters had blue eyes, and all the brunettes had brown? I think Stacey would have looked great with brown eyes. And maybe Kristy with blue? Mallory might have looked very pretty with hazel eyes.

Yeah, I've noticed that, and it bugs me! It's common in so many other books and movies too - writers often think all blondes have blue eyes and all brunettes have brown. Tons of blondes and brunettes don't follow that pattern. Of course, AMM seemed to follow a lot of generalizations like that (such as all Californians are blonde, vegetarian surfers). Off the top of my head, I remember that Jill was a brown-eyed blonde.
Another thing that bugs me is that green eyes are really common, but are quite underused by authors.

The Perkinses were brown-eyed blondes. I remember in one book -- The Mystery at Claudia's House? -- it's mentioned that one of the actresses on Derek's show was a blue-eyed brunette, and that this was an "unusual" combo to them.

^ Were the Perkins girls all blondes? I always pictured them as light brunettes. Or maybe their appearance changed throughout the series? Also, I didn't think they all had the same colour of hair.

^I thought they were, at least in the beginning. The illustrations in Snowbound make both Gabbie and Myriah look dark-haired. I also am thinking and maybe I am making this up, Logan's eye color changed at least once from blue to brown. Maybe I am confusing that with Sam. In KGI Kristy tells us he has blue eyes. I think in most all other descriptions of her brother he has brown.

Isn't Shannon not a blonde-blue-eyed character?
Also, if I remember correctly, Logan was described as sandy blonde. Which I could guess means dark blonde. Maybe that explains how his hair kind of looks dark in some books?

Yeah, I always pictured Myriah and Gabbie looking like they do in Snowbound--brownish hair--but they're described as blonde in their first appearance. I think you're right about Logan, zoar.
Shannon's blonde/blue.

i noticed, but it never bothered me. i have black hair and dark brown eyes, so it just seemed believable to me that the girls with dark hair also had dark eyes like me.

I honestly never really payed attention except I did think Sam (dark hair and blue eyes) sounded very good looking but then so did blond Logan. My Grandma and I were the only members of our family with hazel eyes everyone else had brown. My hair is a dark-ish brown. BooBoo, I will have to go back sometime (or just pay better attention when I read forward) to Logan's changing eye color.

I read "Karen's Secret Valentine" last night. Karen tells us Nancy has brown-red hair. I always thought Nancy's hair was blond-red? Maybe it's some of the LS illustrations make her hair appear lighter. To answer the subject of this thread, , I never did pay much attention to that.

In Mary Anne and the Haunted Bookstore, Mallory had reddish-brown hair with blue eyes.

My hair is a dark-ish brown. BooBoo, I will have to go back sometime (or just pay better attention when I read forward) to Logan's changing eye color. Logan's eyes were always described as blue, never brown or hazel. And Kristy's two older brothers had dark hair, but blue eyes. Yeh, it would have been neat if Stacey had brown eyes like most of the rest of the BSC and also it would have been really great if in addition, Dawn had dark brown or black hair with blue eyes. I do remember some books, though, describing Stacey as having dark blue eyes, not pale blue eyes. And I suspect Karen's hair probably darkened as she grew older. Most of Stoneybrook seemed to have dark brown or black hair and dark brown eyes with rather light complexions.

Old post but Nancy’s hair was outright described as red in one book. I like to think he hair looks more red then anything. In Mary Anne and the Haunted Bookstore, Mallory had reddish-brown hair with blue eyes. On my last reread she’s described with that shade more then being an actual redhead.

Possibly...several books do describe Mallory's hair as reddish-brown or auburn.
