^ I still have a crush on Patrick Swayze. ;D I've always gone for the older guys. ;D Speaking of older guys, for some reason, I always picture the teacher in this book as the same person as Wes. Not sure why....

Have you heard that Patrick Swayze is now battling pancreatic cancer? I wouldn't know this, but the news just showed it, and I remembered you had talked about him today on the site.

I've heard conflicting reports--some saying he's dying, some that he is going through treatment but is doing ok and still working. I know pancreatic cancer kills fast though.

^My grandma was supposed to die over 8 years ago from pancreatic cancer. For some reason she is still alive. The quality of her life though=eh. She can walk and talk, but she is always doing new treatments, etc. Her life and my grandfathers revolve around her cancer and it has spread throughout her body. She is in her late 50s.

^I was mainly bringing my grandma's experience with the pancreatic cancer to just say that it mainly does take people quickly, but not always!!! I am sure people can live with a better quality of life than my grandmother has with that cancer. With her, it is my grandpa's determinance to 'save' her, which sometimes you have to just throw in the towel and give up on. Patrick Swayze could have another 10 years ahead of him, or he could have another 3 months (what they gave my grandmother 8 years ago to live).

I was actually just thinking about this thread. I read the news stories and found out pretty soon after I posted the Patrick Swayze comment. It just was kind of weird. I hope all goes well for him and also your grandma Sarish! I can only imagine how hard it would be to have to deal with it.

^ I saw it last night just after reading your post and thought it was really ironic and so sad. I know Pancreatic cancer can be really iffy and any cancer is awful. Happy that your grandma has lived for so long Sarish but sorry that her quality of life is no good. She and your family are in my prayers. ;D Any type of illness like that is awful to deal with. My grandpa had cancer a few times and tons of other health problems and it was just constantly something. Very hard. I kind of wish they would have addressed an adult having cancer (other than the possible breast cancer) in a BSC book as I think lots of kids can relate.

^ I forgot about Sunny's mom. You're right. I guess I meant a main character in the BSC but that probably is too much for that audience. I suppose the stroke was really enough for me. ;D

^Thank you aln. I think my grandma may be dying pretty soon here. I know it sounds bad, but I am hoping it is sooner than later, so she doesn't suffer too much more.
I have been dying to get my hands on Sunny and Dawn's CA diaries. I have a couple of Maggie's, one of Ducky's, and one of Amalia's, so I want to see about Sunny's poor mother.

^ Yes, I don't think it ever said for sure but one book might have said (or maybe I'm just assuming this ;D) that she had cancer.
