Do you/your family have specific traditions for birthdays?
I've made a banner that we hang across the dining room for everyone's birthday. It's generically bright colors so it works no matter whose birthday is celebrated.

We used to go to a certain restaurant that would announce your birthday over their intercom, but sadly they went out of business last year. I have so many memories there. But I guess it's time to make new traditions.

^That's cool Sillybillygoogoo and that you will always have those good memories. I don't think I would have cared for my name being announced like that but the idea sounds fun of the family always gathering at one favorite spot. I do love holiday decorations, I think they brighten up a space and time. Should I ever have a husband and family, I would love to start some birthday and other traditions. I always did like that part of "Abby's Book," where the girls and their mom talked about New Years Eve.

We generally go to my grandma's since she lives alone and can't come over to where we live. There we eat and talk about various things.

When my children have their 1st birthdays, their cakes are shaped like teddy bears.

I go out for Mexican food on my birthday. The past three years I've gone to a different restaurant each time. It's a fun way to try a new place.

They also had a dessert buffet, so you could get any birthday treat you wanted.

^Now, that sounds awesome! I bet Claudia would have gone crazy. I actually thought of the Hometown Buffet dessert area yesterday in terms of this thread. This restaurant sounds like they had many more choices. Yummy.

We usually just go out to dinner. I LOVE celebrating birthdays (my own of course, but other people's as well!). Hm. I'll need to start thinking of fun traditions for when I have kids.
