I liked how she guessed the truth as well. The way I wrote that made it look like I thought otherwise, I think. What I really hated was how the other girls acted like Janine having a boyfriend wasn't even possible. I guess only dibbly fresh BSC members are allowed to snag a guy. ;D
I think it is once again Ann trying to do that thing where the "underdog" gets the thing. Mary Anne getting Logan and Janine gets Jerry and his cute little red sports car.

i still can't figure out what guys (ie the triplets) would want to force their little sister to kiss some guy. (especially considering vanessa was ONLY 9) I'm 21 and i'm pretty sure my older brother would never be trying to bribe me to kiss some guy.
^ You have a good brother. ;D I never thought it was that weird because when I was that age, several kids tried to force me to kiss some boy and then when that didn't work, tried to force him to kiss me. (He attempted but.... let's just say I reacted the way Kristy might have at 9 ;D) That's why I can relate to this subplot, I think. Things like that actually happened among my friends all of the time. I don't have siblings, though, so maybe it is different with them.
I've just finished this book,(Thanks to mcpon and I really liked it. I felt really happy for Janine here, and I'm really happy to read more about Claud's fashion, even though I don't really like most of it ;D. And I really liked the subplot too. I loved it when they played courtroom. ;D

Just finished reading this one for the first time, and I did like it, though the constant referencing to Derek as an 'expert' did get a little annoying. Claudia, I'm pretty sure you could manage to do some detective work WITHOUT an eight year old. But I like Derek and Todd, so I didn't mind Also loved how Janine got a good-looking guy instead of a stereotypical nerd, or something, but the whole 'in spite of your looks' was a real head-scratcher. I was like 'Huh, wait! That's not really a compliment, Janine!' I like to think that he meant 'I love you for who you are, not for your looks' and that the ghostie just messed up their words ;D I didn't find this one very challenging, though. I realized what was going on almost as soon as I started the book, which I don't usually solve them that quickly, lol. Also was annoyed at how everyone laughed when Mal suggested that Janine might have a boyfriend. I mean, I know the girl is a super-genius who wants to do well in school and stuff, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't have crushes on cute guys, too! There are very few people, I think, that by the age of sixteen have never had a crush on a guy or girl, no matter how smart they are. (Not saying they're not out there! Just saying that there are precious few). I also really liked Janine's makeover that Claudia gave her, but had to laugh at Claud criticising Janine's colour clashing and the like - um, kettle calling the pot black, much?

I liked reading about the makeover Claudia gave Janine and the description of how she was making beaded jewelry for the library and wanted to try it too.
However, I think it's weird how no one except meek little mallory concluded that Janine has a boyfriend. Also, it is apparently considered deviant to go to pizza express if you live in the Kishi household.
