As I've been rereading, I feel as though Claudia is more sensitive than Mary Anne. I get this feeling from seeing how Claudia is protected by her friends from insults and criticisms. They seem to baby Claudia and adopt the attitude that if she receives a slight that Claudia has been unfairly wronged whereas if Mary Anne receives a slight and reacts hurt by it she is told to grow up. In Mary Anne's Bad Luck Mystery, when Mary Anne turns green from listening to some of Kristy's gross food talk, they do it more. But when Kristy says that Claudia's outfits look like Halloween outfits, Kristy is out of line. Both of those just seem like friendly banter among friends but are perceived differently.

Thoughts on Claudia being sensitive or on her feelings being protected?

I could see how Claudia could sometimes be perceived as more sensitive, especially in regards to her schoolwork. Mimi in particular seemed tuned into Claudia’s feelings on homework and studying and knowing the right way to approach her about it.
