Yes, Kristy and the Kidnapper, which is FF#9. He doesn't show up again in Stoneybrook. Kristy and Abby run into him in Washington, DC. All three of them are in a debating tournament.

I actually liked the mysteries. But then again, even when I was little, I had a thing for scary stuff, horror movies, stephen Kig etc. But to tell you the truth I think my favourite mystery isn't even a real "mystery" book lol. Stacy and the Mystery of Stoneybrook scared the crap outta me when I was younger...and I even find it a bit creepy now too

I have always liked the mysteries, especially the early ones. I'm still creeped out by Stacey and the Haunted Masquerade and Claudia and the Lighthouse Ghost. Probably would have been scared of Mystery of Stoneybrook if I had read it as a kid (it still is a little creepy). I liked Terry/David too. I might have to read Kristy and the Kidnapper now, though I can't really bring myself to read any of the FF books - I don't like change Mystery Money is on my list to reread pretty soon.

Well, I haven't read that many to be honest, and now that I am recollecting, and rereading, I am reading the books in published order, so I am only up to #7, the dog one. But they have been okay so far. The super mysteries ROCKED though, especially the first. I got it for Christmas when I was 8, and I couldn't believe my eyes. There's a home movie of me just gapping at the book. Mum picked well. That was also when i found out about the movie

^When the first super mystery came out I thought it was incredibly cool. Far scarier than the regular mysteries!

I ADORED the mystery series, and remember I was upset when I found out it got canceled.
But, man oh man, the Super Mysteries were THE BEST! I must have read them over and over. (I did that with the regular Super Specials too- I think I just loved the whole alternating POV thing) They were, like, ten times better than the regular mysteries.
My favorite was Mary Anne and the Music Box because I love a good love story and it had it all, IMO. It even threw in some dashing WW2 stuff and I loved the whole reading of the old letters.
I liked the lighthouse one too, and the Mystery of Claudia's House... can't remember which others though, it's been so long.
I'm off to the library tomorrow and I really hope they have some there (my neighborhood library is kinda crappy though- I might have to wait until my day off and take the bus to the better one) as I've just got into a major craving for BSC.

oh, btw, did anyone else ever notice the chapter 2's were slightly different in the mysteries? After the usual banal stuff they go "oh yeah... and we have a mystery journal too since we end up 'happening' into so many mysteries lately..."
Though the mystery notebook was never mentioned in the regular series, lol.

^ It wasn't? I thought I remember a mention in one of the books but don't remember which one. I also notice that some of the chapter 2s seem better in the mysteries - especially Claudia's.

Yeah, I think perhaps the mystery notebook came up in the regular series but mentions were few and far between.

What book did they start the notebook in, anyway? I don't remember it in the first several mysteries.

I thought it was in one I had just read. ;D I always thought it was sooner than that but it is kind of hard to figure out when the different spin offs were published without looking at the date.

That's right, doesn't Mal spend ages copying the stuff over?

^ She sure does. My favorite Mystery Notebook moment was when Mal freaked out because she didn't have the notebook when they went to Salem. (In Baby-sitters Fright Night) She made Jessi and Shannon give it to one of the teacher's husbands who was coming up that weekend. Even Shannon and Jessi thought she was nuts.
