Yes she gets stick on earrings in this book. I used to love those things.

I used to love stick-on earrings too! They were so awesome. I read this one for the first time only recently, so I didn't like it as much as I would've had I read it first as a kid. And thanks to one of the BSC super mysteries, I already knew whodunnit. But it was still cute. I loved how Charlotte was convinced that Stacey was going to go to jail, and how the girls followed around that English teacher all afternoon, and that they spent so much time in the copier place. Silly girls! I didn't really like the Charlie-Tasha thing, that was really creepy (and totally random). I also hated how they thought they'd catch the guy by taking his picture. This falls into the category of them never asking for help, but seriously...that was pretty stupid. I'm glad that someone finally reprimanded them for not calling the police. This definitely wasn't one of the better mysteries. It seemed to go nowhere for the longest time, and then all of a sudden they caught the guy. But now that I think about it, maybe all of the mysteries were like that? Sigh. As much as I love trying to complete my BSC collection, sometimes reading a BSC book for the first time as an "adult" (if you can call someone with a screen name of fluffycakes an adult) is a little disappointing.

I remember thinking how silly it was for the girls to think the counterfeit guy would be photocopying money in the middle of a shop! Hee

^ Just reread and didn't mind some parts but other parts really bothered me - like the copy machine assumption. The BSC seemed quite dumb in this one (but I have to remind myself they are only 13 - I always pretend they are older) I also didn't like it how they waited for the counterfeiter at the end and took pictures without calling the police. At least Kristy had the good sense to send Charlotte home. I did like Terry and how he told Stacey his secret. I would never have been able to keep it though ;D Also liked Stacey and Char's shopping trip and Stacey and Terry's date. Georgie Hoyt sounded like a cute little kid, too, so I almost wish they wouldn't have had to move. It would have been interesting for Terry to stay in town with Stacey knowing the secret. Dawn's comment about Kathy - Sam's new girlfriend - being "gorgeous" seemed a bit insensitive. She also seemed a little insensitive with accusing Terry of being a criminal. Kristy was too with being worried that Stacey having the counterfeit bill would be bad for business. At least MA stood up to her. I love the food descriptions in this book ;D and like some parts of it but it is one of those mysteries that makes me too irritated (because of the lack of adult involvement and seeming good sense) to like it that much.

I wouldn't be able to keep Terry's secret, either! I can't even keep my OWN secrets. does Stacey not even tell Claudia? Does she keep that secret all the way til the FF when Kristy finds out? If so, wow! I would've ran back and told everyone the juicy gossip.

^ ;D Totally agree about not being able to keep my own secrets. I don't think Stacey even tells Claud - at least in this book. That would have killed me but she says she liked having the secret. Maybe she'd be a good one to confide in.

I just read this one yesterday, and while it was okay, I found it a little far out for me. Are there really secret service agents who move around the country with their families, having to change their names like that? Even the kids? I wouldn't want to do that to my children. And I thought it was pretty stupid not to call the police when they found the sack of money. Um, hello, I think the police might think about staking out the area to catch him too. That's their job.

Just finished rereading this one. This was one of my favorite BSC books period when I was little. I still liked it, though it wasn't nearly as great as I remembered it. It has all kinds of great elements - Stacey hauled off to jail, freaked out kids, romance, secrets, Stacey even gets all kinds of snarky on page 126 - but it didn't quite add up. I'd rate this one overall a B-. Charlotte was kind of annoying. The romance with terry was nice, though. I loved that he shared his secret with Stacey, and she (miraculously) kept it.
I also *love* the cover of this one! Definitely one of the best of any of the books, mystery or otherwise. Stacey looks great, Charlotte's concerned expression is realistic (not over-the-top!), and the brown book matches the cover painting perfectly. I always liked the more 'earthy' colors of the mystery books better than the regular books, which tended to lean towards overtly feminine colors.

I really like the cover as well. I wanted a purse like the one Stacey is carrying, which is a little weird, since it's rather plain-looking. I guess she made it look sophisticated in my eyes

And I thought it was pretty stupid not to call the police when they found the sack of money. Um, hello, I think the police might think about staking out the area to catch him too. That's their job. That would be why most of the SS agents are young and single. They know the job going in, and they are selected out of a very broad number of applicants. I suppose some might have a family, but I don't see those agents being the ones who are assigned to counterfeiting cases. More like the ones who are assigned to protect certain members of government. I thought this book was a little over the top. When they were planning to catch the guy on their own, I was all "What about Charlotte? Don't be stupid." Then I had to remind myself that any normal 13 year old would be in trouble for what they did. UGH. Terry. I hate Stacey for thinking she is more "mature" that Sam. Just fess up Stacey - you are a snob, and you don't like him because he's in the Math Club.

Hodges gets props for actually matching the outfits that Stacey and Charlotte wore My favorite part of the book like most everyoen else's was the "sisters" outting. The rest of it was...bleh. I really liked terry, and was glad to see he was brought back in Kristy adn the Kidnapper in the FF series.

^ Agree Blossom with everything (I even noticed the outfits and usually don't notice that kind of thing ;D) but haven't read the FF series. Do remember it being mentioned, though, that Terry came back and was glad to hear it. He sounded pretty nice.

Like others, my favorite part of this one is the Stacey/Charlotte shopping trip. I always wondered where Terry's family went after Stoneybrook. It was sad to me that they had to keep moving all the time, changing names, never making lasting friendships, and having to be so secretive.
