I didn't see a thread for this but know we have discussed this game in a lot of the BSC book threads. I recently had the thought that I don't recall Karen and her friends ever playing Let's All Come In in an LS book. The only consistent game of pretend between both series is Lovely Ladies. I know to play LACI a lot of characters are required and so that's probably why it works better at the Big House. Just a random LS thought I recently had.

That's such a shame- it's so cute~! Does anyone else think a bit of the Tower of Terror hotel when reading about Let's All Come In?

^lol
That's curious that the game is never played in LS. To me, it always highlighted how "young" Karen and co. were in BSC when they played this game. In LS, they talk about the dress up clothes they have (and Karen and Hannie and Nancy play Lovely Ladies on occasion) but never actually act out, I think.

^I'm thinking that the little house books were much more related to on-goings at Stoneybrook Academy than the Big House LS stories. I know there are quite a few LS books during a Big House month such as Karen's School Bus, Karen's Field Day, Karen's Chicken Pox, etc that do "show" us parts of Karen's days in Ms. Colman's class. I'm just wondering if more of the Big House were more focused on the people living there so to tie them more into the BSC books. The Little House books, which overall I do tend to prefer, I think Seth is awesome and I do enjoy reading about family time--at the Big House there isn't as much of that. Also the little house neighborhood is home to both Nancy and Bobby, two of Karen's classmates. From Karen's Candy we know that Pamela lives within walking distance of Lisa's. How all this fits in with LL being a Little House game and LACI being a Big House one, not sure other than maybe because LACI generally takes longer to play and does involve the BSC that's why those stories happened at the Big House. Other than Kristy and Bart (Karen's New Baby-sitter), I don't think any other BSC member ever sit for Andrew and Karen at their mom's do they? Just some Sundae afternoon thoughts.

I'm wondering if it's because the LS books were written for a lower reading level than the regular series, so they needed to have the plot advance a little more tightly. Lovely Ladies is pretty easy to figure out from the name, but several pages would have been lost if Karen had to explain Let's All Come In in a LS book.
Are you asking just if other club members sat at the Little House in LS books or in the regular series too?

LS books are really short, too. I think you're right about the plot having to advance quickly.

I agree, three, Scrounge. I was asking if any of the BSC members besides Kristy ever did sit for Karen and Andrew at the Little House. I know MA had a couple of infamous sitting jobs at Watson's in early books. Dawn was the sitter in the Mr. X book who got the game of LACI going that featured Bruce Stringbean. I also remember, not which book though, Claudia sitting at Kristy's and telling us how strange it was for her to realize that she had to travel by car to go to Kristy's. I don't think there was a whole lot of baby-sitting in the LS Little House books. I think that might have allowed for us to see more family time. Something to keep an eye out for.

Well right offhand the only one I remember is the sitting job Mary Anne had in Kristy and the Copycat where Lisa and Seth went to a garden party and Karen was trying to talk to her about boyfriends and Andrew dug for worms in the garden.

^That sounds funny especially because I just read about the "great worm round-up" in Karen's Fishing Trip. I have rarely read Kristy and the Copycat because I am not a fan of hazing or and was disappointed that Kristy chose to participate. I will have to get the book out and read about MA baby-sitting, thanks Scrounge. ETA: I just did read about MA and Karen's chats about being 13 (Mal might have enjoyed being present) and Andrew trying to move the worms to new homes--keep the slimy worms away from me but Andrew's explanation was cute. Mistrali, from your post below mine, I don't know if the BSC being busy was a reason Lisa didn't call them before hiring Merry. I'm thinking because this was too be a longer term job and also probably during the day when the girls would be at school (Andrew might be home from preschool) that was part of the reason for wanting an adult sitter. Interesting question and now that you mention it I am surprised that at least initially neither Andrew or Karen asked their mom to call Kristy or the BSC, so they would know and like their sitter.

Also, wasn't Merry Perkins or whatever her name was hired for the *little house* in Karen's Nanny? Does it say anything about why the BSC couldn't sit for Karen and Andrew?
