I kind of liked Don Newman, and I don't blame him for leaving the party to play detective with Claud. Not everyone enjoys that kind of party. I do, however, think it was odd that Claudia just went off alone with a man she'd never met before. Yes, he's a famous artist and everything, but being famous doesn't mean he isn't a potential molestor or something....

I will say this museum mystery was much better to me than Claudia and the Mystery in the Painting. That one did nothing for me. I, too, thought the museum exhibits sounded awesome, not into art though and wondered who was who on the cover. What's tricky is it stated that Corrie was small for her age. Even though I think that the girl in front is Marilyn...maybe it is meant to be Corrie? Though the taller girl did have blondish hair (Corrie's stated color) while the shorter had brown.

I also liked Don Newman. I was glad Ann portrayed a father who was "wonderful." (According to Claudia). ITA with other people's comments on how Don's phone number would truly being listed, unless he was only truly famous in CT. I also am not quite understanding why Claud's parents didn't question her invite to the party. Also, a little awkward and not quite right, that John Kishi allowed his daughter to wander off with a strange man.
The Claire subplot was cute, but wish the song had been from almost any movie besides the Wizard of Oz. Enough with that film already! I also thought Jessi was rather harsh on Claire, not really her place and that Claudia should have asked Mrs. Pike's permission before sending out the superstar tape, but hey at least Claud had second thoughts.

was jessi the one who told claire she was wrong for showing the tape? i remember thinking that was pretty mean, and showing the tape was just an innocent little kid thing, but it's been so long i don't remember if jessi was the one.

I don't think the listed phone number is THAT weird. . .I did my MFA at a program with a lot of famous writers, people who've won Pulitzers and National Book Awards and so on, and most of them have listed numbers. Being "famous" as an artist or writer or classical musician doesn't really mean "famous" in terms of celebrity very often.

^Kristy told Claire that "tricking" people into coming to see her tape was wrong not showing the tape itself. Claire invited people to come see a "Show in her Rec room" without first telling them what the "show" was.
Good point, Alula.

I liked reading about the museum exhibits. I liked the moment where Mary Anne and Stacey were helping Claudia get dressed for the party. The kimono sounded nice.

This was even more boring than usual. Mr. Pike wiping his brow anticipating more shopping with his four sons, bothered me or maybe I read it wrong. He then thanks, Mary Anne and (I think) Mal, too saying he couldn't have managed this trip without them.

I really felt like there was a push up to the end and then poof it was over! WTF!
I did enjoy the Janine/Claudia interaction! I now want to go to a museum...all these exhibits sound awesome!

Those kids need a nanny, I don't understand *smh*
I went to one a year or two ago, but it was more science than art.

The mystery was boring. The museum sound like fun. Usually, when I go to museum. They say do not touch. We do have Science museum. Where you can touch & explore. But it way different when I was kid. I'm more a historical museum person. Cause, I love history. I been to Art museum. their okay. I do love looking at the sculptures. But some of the painting at the museum. they look weird. Like a kid painted it. I like paint pictures of people, landscape, life still, etc. that you notices right away. Not looking at it all angle wondering what it is. Back to the book. yeah, it wasn't excited. I thought it was Mr. Snipes. turns out was the janitor. did they mention the janitor when Claudia visit the first time with the three clients? Sub-plot. it was okay. But the wizard of oz. is getting old. ::)Theirs like over 100 sing-a-long movies they could choose. The pike parents are crazy taking their 8 kids to the mall. the same day. they should split the kids. 4 boys on Tuesday & 4 girls on Wednesday. im sure, be alot easier. Usually, you hear parents with 2 or 3 kids. has hard time keeping track of theirs kids at the mall. The real mystery is did Mary Anne bought the sweater, she wanted at the department store? Cause, I don't think she did. Cause she volunteer be with Claire. While Claire was singing over the rainbow. Doesn't mention Mary Anne went back the other day with her boyfriend Logan or one of her friends.

I know a lot of people like this book but it doesn't really stick in my mind very much. I know there were awesome descriptions of the museum, which I liked, but it made it something you'd find in NYC (or Stamford at the very least), not Stoneybrook. How can a small town like Stoneybrook sustain such a museum? Stoneybrookites don't seem that much into culture. Oh well. At least it's there for convenient plots -- such as this one -- and for when they need an excuse for parents as to why they hired the BSC the 20808th time this week...

^ i agree. it's hard to think of stoneybrook as cultured when the ramseys moving to town was such a big deal, but then books like this come out that try to make it seem really high class.

Just reread this one and liked it a little more than usual. Cute outfit descriptions. I like Claudia's pink leggings/black sweater combo. And I really enjoyed the part where Mary Anne and Stacey help her get ready for the party.
