They never actually find out it was Cokie, though. They just kinda assume.

^Yeah, that was really weird! The blue tattoo guy was just a random coincidence, I guess, but the notes seem like they should be important and then nothing happens. I got to the end of the book and I was like, "Huh?" And poor Shannon, locked in a room first with fighting and then mushy making-up Mary Anne and Logan. ;D.
I do think this is one of the scariest mysteries, though, if not the scariest. That stuff is hardcore--arson and stalking and sabatoged ski runs--it kind of makes someone tampering with an oven or leaving a lame and annoying will look pretty tame. I find it much scarier than Cat Burgler, when they actually "decide" to quit being detectives.

It wasn't Cokie sending the letters. It was Cary Retlin. He admits it in another book, but I never remember which one.

^ Cary in himself is creepy enough ;D Glad to hear it wasn't Cokie since that is so overused in the books (or it at least seems that way). What were the letters?

Mary Anne gets one that says something like STOP CRYING ALL THE TIME in Logan's handwriting and Logan gets one in MAs handwriting but I can't remember what it says.

This was definitely creepier than the usual BSC mysteries. I liked the Kristy-Watson thing, though, which I posted about in another thread. You can really see genuine affection between her and Watson when she says she "wanted him around for a long, long time. Like forever." *sniff* Sheesh, I'm getting as bad as Mary Anne. :-)

I remember reading this for the first time as a kid during a blackout and getting so freaked out! Now I don't remember this one as well but I do remember it was scary. Abby getting stuck on the chairlift which was one of my fears! And being uncomfortable as a kid for Shannon as the third wheel trapped in the room with Mary Anne and Logan.

^ That would be scary reading it during a blackout as it sounds like one of the creepiest BSC books. Maybe I should have read it at Halloween. ;D I really have to reread soon as I don't remember it at all. Does it take place before or after Christmas?

Am rereading just a few chapters of this one and got to the one with all of the problems they have while skiing. Claudia’s near accident is scary and Kristy’s accident is too but the one that always gets me is Stacey on the chairlift. I have always been terrified on chair lifts, anyway, probably because I’m afraid of heights. Also, one of my friends got pushed off of one and was hurt really bad in HS so that’s all I can think about with Stacey. This is definitely one of the more “dangerous” mysteries.

I'm afraid of heights too. This one definitely has a lot of danger in it.

I'm not really scared of heights, but I hate chairlifts. They make me comfortable because you're not really strapped in very well. I would be terrified if I were stuck on one.

^ The not being strapped in is one of the main things that does scare me. ;D Does it seem like Abby is frequently the sitter in the most danger? I'm thinking of Fright Night, too. I wonder if this is because she's more of a risk taker. Stacey also seems to be in a lot of danger.

I re-read this one yesterday and it's still my favourite mystery, but there are three things that have been bugging me about it (obviously, I should find more constructive things to do than brooding over them, but... ): 1. Assuming MA was right in that someone was watching her shortly after Kristy's house was vandalised and assuming it was Woodie Tate, how did he get to MA's house so quickly? I've always thought their houses were pretty far apart and MA saw someone outside hers only (I think) minutes after the vandalism. How did Woodie get there so fast? Apparition? Or maybe it was someone else? (Cary Retlin, continuing his plan for 'complications' in MA's life? I'm only half-joking... I think. That's creepy.) 2. How did Woodie know the gang were off to Shadow Lake? I mean, he had secured a job and cabin by the time they got there, so he must have known fairly early... Personally, I believe he was having a secret affair with Nannie and she told him. (I'm kidding! That thought is kinda disturbing. ;D) 3. When Mal was writing past mystery notes for the new mystery notebook, why did she have 'stacks' of paper? All she would really have to do would be to go through the club notebook, and copy whatever mystery notes they had so far into the new notebook. I note that Logan mentions there being 'dividers' in the new mystery notebook, so perhaps the 'big job' came from her deciding to make different sections for suspect bios, crime scene descriptions, BSC members' personal observations, clues found, false leads, solutions, etc. (Kidding again! I like Mallory.) Pretty silly stuff, but I'm bored and just had to ask. Any ideas?

2. How did Woodie know the gang were off to Shadow Lake? I mean, he had secured a job and cabin by the time they got there, so he must have known fairly early... Well he was stalking them in Stoneybrook; he found out where Kristy and Mary Anne lived (assuming that was him outside her window), and Claudia felt like she was being watched when she, Stacey, and Mary Anne were going home after shopping. I guess he could have overhead them discussing trip details, but it didn't seem like the girls were discussing it outside their homes before they left. But he had to have gotten his info from somewhere...that's creepy!
