^I hope aln is rereading her much loved books right now...
This one seemed like a fast read...maybe because I just like anything art or museum-related. I liked it a little better this time around. I thought it was really funny when Stacey mentioned seeing a suspicious deliveryman coming to the house (which actually turns out to be the charge's dad) and she's like "he didn't look like a deliveryman..." Claudia asks "...meaning?..." and Abby pops in with "Meaning he didn't have any pizza?"
It's always impressive when the club comes in a group to help a client with a project and the client remembers everyone's names immediately when assigning tasks...I'm terrible with names.
Stacey and Corrie talk about the decals on Stacey's nails first...then Stacey brings it up a second time, like, "so, yeah, my nails are chipping..." which helps Claudia solve the mystery. It seemed awkward to me.

I thought that it was odd that Claudia never heard of Grandmother Madden before because she had lived in Stoneybrook when she was alive. As I read the ending of the book, I thought of Mallory and the Mystery Diary because in both books, the paintings were painted over.

^ that's part of the reason i don't really enjoy this book. it's one thing to recycle little bits and pieces, but recycling the whole solution to the mystery is dumb.

This was one of the harder BSC books for me to find. Once I did, the story was so very boring. I didn't even get attached to Jimmy. I will say Claudia's run in with the "bad guys" was at least a little more realistic than Cat Burglar.

I just did this one for my blog. I think I'd only read it once before and I don't think I'll be reading it again any time soon. One thing that really stood out to me was that the lady organizing the kids' room at the museum was just about the worst possible choice for the job. She was so clueless about what kids would want to do it was almost ridiculous. She works at a museum, for crying out loud, yet she just hands out outlines of bears to paint in and only offers brown paint? Has she ever even looked at the exhibits?
But then this morning one of my co-workers was talking to me about when she used to be very involved with the museum in our town and all the politics that took place behind the scenes, which made me think that maybe the others at the museum knew full well that she would be the worst person for the job but for various reasons had to let her do it anyway.

I don't remember reading this one when I was younger. I have it now, but haven't read it yet. I'm not looking forward to it - it sounds stupid.

Oh man so I finished this one...the reread is so hard to get through at this point. I didn't really like any of the characters. The dad seemed to have a split personality! He was all grumpy and mean and - I hate art but then at the end is all loving and upset b/c he just doesn't know art??? wth?
I liked the cat - just b/c I love cats!
I did like the description of grandmother's art. I thought it was cool that you could put four canvases together to make a bigger picture.

^ i have always wanted to make four pictures that go together :] It's always impressive when the club comes in a group to help a client with a project and the client remembers everyone's names immediately when assigning tasks...I'm terrible with names. yeah, i don't buy that. i know some people are just good with names, but i doubt every single adult they ever meet is like that.

Haha, I just finished reading the posts and they made me laugh because a lot of us seem to have had a difficult time getting through this book. I enjoyed it okay this re-read. I wish the Madden home was explained more thoroughly. We get to hear about the grey and pink exterior but not much about the interior. The way it was written was a bit odd. The book seemed to lead up to the climax of Claudia getting locked in the closet (random and weird the way they did it) and then the ending of the book is explained through Claudia telling a quick story of what happened. I don't get why they would try to hide Claudia in a closet, knowing that she knows what they look like and will be removed from the space eventually.

This one was one of my favourite mysteries as a kid and I have absolutely no idea why. Granted, I only ever read about 5 of the mysteries, but still. And yes! I never understood why they hid Claudia in the closet either. Also, was this the book where Abby told Corrie she painted like Pele and she got offended? I feel like it must have been this one, but I'm not too sure.
