You can dye hair and put contacts in. Although I think I found a different actress since then. Only if the hair dye and contacts look natrual. But glad you'd select another actress. The one for Mary Anne is good...the BSC 1990s movie did an excellent job casting all the BSC members right down to the natural coloring and mannerisms.

I really like tv series cast over the movie myself.

If I had a time machine, I would cast Facts of Life's Nancy McKeon (Jo) as Kristy and Lisa Whelchel (Blair) as Stacey. I picture them as I read the books.

^ Sort of off topic, but I have always pictured Nancy McKeon as George and Mindy Cohn as Bess when reading Nancy Drew. Lisa Whelchel is Nancy. It's funny how we see the same faces for different characters

I really like tv series cast over the movie myself. I think the movie was much better cast, especially with Mary Anne. Mary Anne was always described in the books as short with DARK hair and DARK BROWN eyes...Meghan Lahey of the TV series was way too tall and UNLIKE the real Mary Anne, Meghan has blue eyes and LIGHT brown hair. In the movie, Rachel Leigh Cook made a much better Mary Anne...not only was her performance better, but the casting matched Rachel's dark hair and dark eyes much better with the truly dark-haired, dark-eyed Mary Anne. I'm curious...why do you like the TV series cast better...? Is it because you believe the performances were better or did you like the storylines better in the TV series...?

I liked that dynamic they had, the performances were good, and the stories were slightly better. I don’t care if they look like their book counter parts exactly, it’s how they portray the characters that I liked better.

The storylines were good and all, but I think it's better if the actors look somewhat similar to the character. I couldn't get into Megan Lahey's character at all because while Megan was a good actress, she looked NOTHING like Mary Anne at all. Mary Anne's hair is dark brown, almost black and she has huge, slightly almond-shaped dark brown eyes and is rather short, only slightly over five feet. Megan, on the other hand, is much taller than Mary Anne, and UNLIKE Mary Anne, has almost blond hair and small, round pale BLUE eyes...nothing at all like Mary Anne. Rachel Leigh Cook made a much better Mary Anne...true, there were a few minor differences between Mary Anne and Rachel, but Rachel as Mary Anne was more believable.

Also, the opening theme of the big-screen movie was MUCH better than the TV series.
The TV series theme song sounded like an opening song to a pre-school Barney show...and we know the BSC were not small children in grammar school anymore.
The big-screen movie's opening was much more appropriate and fitting for a movie about eleven-to-thirteen-year-olds.

And if there ever is any new telly series or movies, keep the setting to the 1990s...let's not 'modernize' it where the girls are still in middle school in the year 2020.
By now the original BSC are long-grown women in their mid-thirties living in different parts of the country, all with careers and most with children of their own.

I don’t care if they look like their book counter parts exactly... Trouble is, the actors who played Mary Anne and Stacey didn't look ANYTHING like their book counterparts, especially Mary Anne. Meghan looks NOTHING like Mary Anne at all...in hair or eye coloring, height, overall size, anything...I can't get into it if the actor doesn't match the character at all...to me, it seems like sloppy casting even if the acting is good and the storylines are interesting.

That’s too bad, I love the Mary-Anne in the tv series. She really fit for me. I like the Stacey in the movie better though.

Could it be that maybe you resemble Megan in some way and so identify yourself with Megan and not Mary Anne? For me, Rachel Leigh Cook was WAY better, both in acting the part of Mary Anne and looking the part of the dark-haired, dark-eyed Mary Anne.

I thought Lahey and Cook both did well playing Mary Anne but each better as different parts of her life, respectively pre- and post-book 60.
I don't know a lot of current young actresses but I would like, if budget was no concern, David Duchovny as Watson and Stanley Tucci as Ed.

I don't know a lot of current young actresses but I would like, if budget was no concern, David Duchovny as Watson and Stanley Tucci as Ed. I would flip those two. David Duchovny is too fit and smarmy to be Watson, and Stanley has the bald head. I actually pictured Watson as like a James Gandolfini if he had lived longer. And Paul Walker as Dawn's dad if he had lived longer. (Or as her crush, Travis, when he was younger. Was she subconsciously attracted to someone like her dad?) It's easier to cast the parents, lol. There are infinite choices out there.
