I liked that they kept all the super specials white, but at the same time thought the white was a little boring. I liked the covers of BSC in the USA and European Vacation a lot when I first bought them.

I think I like Super Specials all being white because it makes them easier to reshelve and to find on my shelf. Same thing with the mysteries being darker. I'm all for making things easier and saving time. ;D

i wonder if they were planning to rerelease the mystery books with this new cover design, and then decided it wasn't worth it because they were going to switch to friends forever anyway.

I liked the later ones, but they didn't fit in as well.

wel, the regular series is very colorful so i think the mysteries being colorful would been nice, if they were all DARK colors....not the first 5 being blue then the rest all random dark colors. but i think the mysteries came out when Goosebumps debuted, i remember my mom buying me both Goosebumps book 3 Monster Blood and Stacey and the Missing Ring at the same time. looking back on that, i think it was a horrible marketing ploy done by Scholastic to get people to buy BSC mystery, as a way to say "LOOK BSC IS HORROR TOO!!"
it did make the books look on par with spookiness like Goosebumps..but still..>> XD

It was kind of weird how they had the first five Mysteries blue and then changed them to just any colour that was darker than the regular series, but I did like it that they were darker to differentiate them from regular BSC.
What always bugged me was that there weren't nearly enough green regular BSC books. Like the pale green of #7 or #103. The lack of green made the spines look really... unbalanced, colour-wise, on the shelves. If this makes any sense to anyone.

^i know what you mean. There's Claudia and Mean Janine, which is like neon green, and then a couple which are more seafoamy, but not as many compared to pink or yellow or blue or purple.

And there is that absurd orange one that sticks out horribly.
