I've had baloney where you poke out the holes. I don't know if it was supposed to do that, or if it was just rotten, and that was just how it acts when it rots.

Yeah, it's round processed meat. It's mostly made up of different parts of different animals. There have always been jokes about baloney being made up left over animals parts after the good meat was packaged as steaks, pork loins etc.

^actually, the first quote I thought of was "Steak?" "Money's too tight for steak" "Steak?" ..."sure, steak..."
I always hear about baloney in American books and just assumed it was some form of deli meat. Well, I was almost right.

It sounds like flattened sausage.

Snowbound is definitely one of my favorite super specials. It has it's moments (most of which you guys have already touched upon), but it's a lot more realistic than the BSC winning the lottery and flying to California, or going to Europe for a school trip. I loved Kristy's chapters, even though she was SO out of character! I loved when she was in the bathroom plotting how she could sneak into her bedroom without Bart seeing her in her pjs. So funny.

Ah man, favorite line DM: "Where is Bart going to sleep? In Kristy's room?" Kristy: "No toast-for-brains. . . ."

^ ha! I always found that line very memorable too.
I did like Kristy's chapters (they were entertaining and all) but it just didn't make sense that she'd be so concerned about her appearance that particular day when we're led to believe that on every other occasion she's dressed in jeans, t-shirt, no makeup etc.

Love that she mentioned that she was using Charlie's hair dryer, like he's some sort of man diva or something.
I'm way late on the baloney discussion, but I just wanted to add my 2 cents. #1. Baloney is nasty stuff. If you've never had it then you're not missing anything. #2. It's like a flattened hot dog. It's got the same slippery smooth texture, same color, pretty much smells the same. The only difference is people generally cook hot dogs and eat baloney cold. Although I've heard of fried baloney sandwiches and that makes me want to vomit.

Oh, isn't this the one where Kristy shaves her legs for the first time? And says that they feel naked? Heh.
