^One thing I had forgotten about was on the drive to the beach, Dawn remembers her mom sitting beside her Dad. I think there was one other mention of Sharon. I just think Sharon would have to feel a little weird knowing her kids and ex are now living with Carol in "their" old house. Good point, we never did find out how long Sharon knew Jack, (before their marriage) just that she probably grew up with/around Richard. Aw, that would have been sweet reading one memory of the two as younger kids.

Yet another book to remind me why I can't stand Dawn or MA. They have such a stupid relationship. MA really sounds like she is in love with Dawn! I think I have seen that clown lamp that they mention and it was terrible......I in fact knew someone who decorated their child's nursery in clowns? That to me is pretty twisted. Am I the only one who doesn't give a poop about the barrett-dewitt family? I wish they would have moved away so we don't have to hear about them anymore!

^ I thought particularly in "Farewell, Dawn" it sounded like MA was in love with Dawn. The melancholy description of Dawn "do I tell MA, or don't I?" followed, of course, by MA's reaction read like a soap opera where the heroine/hero have been let down by one another for the zillionth time and "this it it." In BSC-land, I'm surprised they never considered taking it to "Hollywood."

Honestly, someone could make a movie with all the fights that Dawn and Mary Anne have with each other.

^They are just so filled with hatred but I swear the hatred is based on the deep love and obsession that MA has with Dawn..

Lol, Wiggirl. I honestly don't think, after initially meeting and soon after their parents marriage, that MA even Liked Dawn all that much anymore. I'm not sure MA knew how to be a friend. She certainly didn't with Kristy. On the flip-side, once Dawn is gone (for good) but even when she was in CA for "6 months," I have a hunch it'd be fair to say that her own feelings of friendship toward MA decreased. It all goes back to the girls being hyper over becoming "sisters" after less than a year, without ever spending time together as a (potential) family or talking about how that would work, to see how the relationship might change. They all just dove right in because "it's sooo romantic" that Richard and Sharon rekindled their love. Back to your thought, sorry for the tangent, ITA. Didn't MA's action of throwing the cup/pouting in anger=obsession? She wanted to be able to keep and/or control the first "friend" she ever made, when that didn't happen, pow.

Seriously MA creeped me out with some of the things she said about Dawn in this one. I totally agree that Dawn was really over their friendship and had she stayed in SB I think it would have turned into an all out hatred and war at home (which would have been way more interesting than alot of these books I'm reading now...). I'll get my book out and quote the creepy things when I get home!

I remember that this book came with a postcard. What did the postcard look like again? Was it a replica of the cover? I remember it saying Happy Holidays or something?

I think there was also a postcard thing in SS#5, or maybe it was a different SS, but I think it was a warm-weather one, and it had something like a checklist of what to pack when you go on a trip. Only my copy doesn't have it, and I don't know why.
