The dresses are artrocious, but I was wearing ones like that from 1991 to 1994 and by 94 I was really outgrowing the poofy ones and cringed that girls older than me were wearing them and wished they wore something nice like what Claudia had on on that cover. That outfit she had on though was so 90's too though, but it was up to date for it's time.

I remember being a boy and thinking the dresses were so gross looking ... like Pepto-Bismol throw up!!!

^ That's what I thought, when I saw cover of the book. I only read this once. It was long time ago.

I like when Mary Anne though her shoulders looked like white slabs of beef in the dress . Good thing she didn't voice this to Dawn. She might have been banned from the wedding! Suzi was cute in this book, and Kristy's chapters were pretty funny.

Poor jessi and Mallory, their chapters and story were terrible. Jessis was so irrelevant that I felt it got thrown in there to show that Santa can be black.
Suzi's baloney dance was so bizarre!
Ma just got on my nerves with how pouty she was - no one thought of me! But then again dawn was terrible too with assuming things. This book really points out for me why I hate their relationship.

Jessi's story was just stupid! Of course Santa can be any race, but what he can't be is an 11-year old girl. So dumb.

I never read this when I was younger so I skipped the ones before it so I could read it.
I always thought Jeff was a brat but didn't mind him so much in this one and I really liked the Suzi chapters. She's pretty smart.
Marnie was adorable and also liked the Shannon chapter too.
The chapters I skipped were Jessi, she doesn't interest me the slightest.

I don't know if it's specified, but if I were a parent I wouldn't pay for a picture of my kids unless they got to see a proper Santa. Jessi is probably really only a few years older than some of those kids. And I would be mad if I waited in line for a long time too.

I believed in Santa until around age 9 or 10. My brother revealed to me a few years later (who at the time was the same age I was) that he stopped believing around 5 but put on a good front. I didn't read this one before then, but I had read other books where it was hinted that he wasn't. It was sort of like sheesh, these are directed at elementary school kids, some of whom still probably believe. Though I got into a debate around last Christmas about this topic and the general consensus was, it's okay to say these kind of things and for authors to include them in books because just because kids read them or hear people say he's not real, doesn't mean they'll stop believing. I sort of believe in that, because we had jerky kids even in the earlier grades saying that he wasn't real and we were just kinda like "Whatever you say, you're getting coal." Still doesn't mean Ann/ghostwriter should've included it.
Jessi being Santa was a laugh. I've seen black santas, but no 11 year old ones unless it's a pagent.
The whole bridesmaid issue...with Stacey it sort of made sense since Mrs. Barrett had someone drop out and maybe didn't have ANYONE else. At the same time, it would seem weird since they're not close. I understand why they crammed two weddings into one super special but at the same time, it would've been nicer and made more sense if Dawn had been in the party as a replacement. And I always thought it was weird Dawn was making up the bridal party for her dad's wedding...Carol and Jack were the ones getting married.
Claudia being the wedding assistant to pay back half a ticket? I never understand why these Stonybrook parents are always so cheap. It's not like in Dawn and The We Luv Kids Club where Dawn stole money to buy a ticket. Claudia just wanted to go. Her dad makes a pretty good living from what I remember. What does Jack even do that he would be able to afford to fly her out?
All in all, I do like the book. Jeff has the best parts and I was glad to see Carol and Jack finally getting married, as Dawn moved back to Stonybrook...for now.

I can understand that Jack (and Carol) were relieved and happy Dawn finally accepted their mariage and maybe that was why they were both okay with almost the entire BSC being on hand. However, I still think, Jack especially, might (should) have wanted the few days before the wedding and certainly before the honeymoon to be somewhat family time. As for MA being a bridesmaid, honestly it would have made more sense if Sunny or one of Dawn's CA friends had been asked simply because, at least Jack (and Carol) would know that person a little better than MA. Like most of you, I liked the Jeff and Suzi chapters but that was about it. I totally wonder as someone else said what Jack thought of Sharon's hasty marriage and hey, while we're at it, did Sharon have any qualms about Carol? When Dawn finally moves to CA for good, the Schafers all still live in the home Sharon was once apart of. Wouldn't she feel even more "written off" from her kids? I know she has a new CT life, but her kids were in CA. This may sound bad but I never felt bad for Sharon. I always feel like she was asking for it to happen. I understand divorces are hard and we don't really know why Jack and her decided to divorce. (Maybe he cheated, maybe they were fighting too much as hinted in Dawn's Book, maybe she just really never loved him to begin with because her first love was back in CT.) But she uprooted her kids from the only home they had ever known and took them to a smaller town, clear across the country from the father they adored. Now, unless Jack had been abusive (which he clearly wasn't because the kids missed him and wanted to go back), there was no good reason. If Sharon felt she had to move, fine. Just don't take the kids. Both were obviously miserable, even if Dawn stayed longer, it was for convience for BSC plots. I do think that's why Sharon let her move back easily in Farewell, Dawn (like many people have questioned, why would she let her do that without much thought?), she realized that she had uprooted the kids for basically no reason.

^yeah, it was selfish of Sharon to uproot her kids because she wanted a "fresh start."

^I agree with both of you and think still what makes it worse is Sharon did this immediately and without ever asking Dawn or Jeff what they thought. I also (and don't think we were ever told) wonder if Dawn and Jeff had ever at least been to CT to visit their grandparents? I am thinking that Jack had been there for some reason once but am not sure on the kids. Also at least wait until summer to move across the country. Sharon was leaving not only for brand new place but to winter! As for Jack, the only times I did not care for him where when he went overboard with teasing MA in BSC in USA and it will always bother me (keep in mind I am in no way suggesting he was abusive just that I knew abuse as a child so maybe that is why it raised a red flag for me) how in Dawn's Book, when Dawn is telling us when her parents announced their divorce to her and Jeff and Dawn wanted to run out of the room, her dad physically pushed her back onto the couch or something like that. Not cool Jack at all! One other Sharon thing that always bugged me was she never seemed to miss Jeff just Dawn. Thanks for helping to restart some book discussions Stolenbooks, glad you are here

Right, she was so happy to see him but never talked about him. It's weird.
And no problem! I lurked silently for months but couldn't anymore haha.

Same here. I love reading wedding books, no longer how outlandish the plots may seem.
And Sharon shouldn't have uprooted her children from the only life they know. Sharon could have found some place else to live in California and Jeff and Dawn could still see both of their parents often.
