I was thinking about this book, and how Logan brought a horse carriage to take Mary Anne back to Stoneybrook. I remember from previous books that they said it took several hours by car to get to Sea City. If so, it must have taken them an entire day to get back by horse-drawn carriage!

Actually, Logan brought the horse and carriage to the Pikes' house. They were the ones who brought Mary Anne back from Sea City. He only drove from their place to the Schafer/Spier house, not all the way from Sea City.

She was just overly anxious about everything, and tended to freak out a little more than she should. She wasn't been rude or horrible, though.

REading this again now, and seriously? I'm with Stacey on this one. Me too. I do cut Mal some slack, since she's only 11 and it's understandable that she'd be excited by an older guy taking an interest in her. But come on, Mal. You just don't date a friend's ex, especially when she clearly wasn't okay with it. Plus, the age difference squicks me out. Like many of you have said, it's not a problem when you're older, but at their ages? Ack. I believe Mr. and Mrs. P didn't really know what was going on. If they don't let Mal wear glittery sweatshirts, there's no way they'd let her date a 15-year-old. She was just overly anxious about everything, and tended to freak out a little more than she should. She wasn't been rude or horrible, though. Word. In a way, Mrs. Barrett reminds me of my aunt. She's tons of fun, but she can be a bit spacey and difficult to make plans/organize with. If Mrs. Barrett behaved like that on the trip then I can see where Stacey is coming from. I think Stacey overreacted a bit, but I can't really blame her for feeling stressed, since I've had to deal with that kind of thing myself. It's nice the two of them were able to talk it out in the end.

I would've liked it if there were more chapters at Sea City. I also would've liked if there were more chapters about Hurricane Bill since I liked reading about the hurricane.

I'm reading this one right now, and I'm getting sort of annoyed with all the chapters that DON'T take place in Sea City. I never really though about this before, not in all the previous times I've read the book, but I wish the whole thing had taken place in Sea City.

^I wish it had, too Starrynight. I am a Krushers fan but didn't get into their chapters in this one. Claudia's regrets on "losing" her summer school friends was another reminder of how the BSC members do not have outside friends. The "mini-camp" I could take it or leave it. Was it supposed to have taken place during all of July or just the last two weeks? The campers seemed like an odd mix. 4-year-olds: Jamie, Johnny, and Jenny 5-year-old Myriah 6-year-old Mathew 8-year-old Charlotte along with Marilyn and Carolyn. P.S. Since when is Marilyn a Krusher? Or did Kristy recruit her for the big game? She pitched and David Michael, who I thought was normally a pitcher was at shortstop.

Just reread and still liked but def not as much as the regular sea city books. It was so boring that the biggest plot in this was Stacey being mad at Mal. Seriously, has no one every heard of the bro code....you just don't date people your friends have...ever. Stacey did say she didn't care, but you can't even ask b/c the person will lie!!!! They don't want to look like a jerk by saying yes I care - so selfish to ask just say no. Anywho, I have lost several friends this way!
I must say, I survived the three hurricane's that passed though FL not too long ago, and this was a pretty tame description. It was pretty terrifying!
I really wish there had been some other plot lines but there weren't. I loved the Logan being jealous!

^Stacey stayed mad at Mal for the entire (almost) book, too. At that point, it would have been better had Mal just gone out with Toby and then realized how much she cared for Ben or even that she didn't like Toby. I was glad she stood up to him, but it seemed like an awful waste of a build-up. Sort of like the hurricane itself. One night at the elementary school and aside from no power, everything is back to normal. I don't wish bad things on anyone, even Dawn, but come on, they could have needed to at least stay a second day at the school to flesh that out a little.

^ I think that perhaps this storm could have solved the Dawn problem....She could have gone outside to save sea life and then boom - no more choice b/t CA and CT (not that I dislike her or anything ) - they really didn't give her a plot or anything sooo...

Maybe it's wrong but I was rereading this this morning and I started thinking about how Toby would probably end up on 'To Catch a Predator' one day. His maturity level will probably never grow.

LOL! Toby is 14 right? And Mallory is 11 (obviously). That would never happen in real life. I don't think a high-school boy would be interested in a sixth grader, unless -- as you mentioned -- he had anterior "predator" motives. They should have made him into Claudia or something, which would have made the story even more dramatic because Claud is Stacey's BFF.
But I guess they wanted to give Mallory some love, to make girls who feel like Mallory hopeful that a 14 year old boy would go after them, too! hehe
