I really want to re read this one. With the nice weather we are having outside it makes me want to re read all the Sea City books.

I'm currently reading this myself.
A 15 year old liking an 11 year old is just wrong. Now if Mallory was 13 I wouldn't have a problem with it. She's still a kid in my eyes. My niece is the same age as her! Its creepy.
I really hate Mrs Barrett too and Margo's chapter was unnecessary. I still like this book though.

I re read this one recently, as it put me in the mood for my beach vacation. Loved it as usual. I still wish Sea City was real.

I've just reread this one (I've managed to buy every single physical super special books) and just noticed that Stacey is always such a b*tch when she's at Sea City. She was in BSC no 8, BSC: Mary-Anne and Too Many Boys and now again in Sea City where she's jealous over Toby and Mallory. Seriously, Toby and Mallory? She's only 11 this just creeps me out. I would never ever let my 11 year old daughter go out with an older man. ITs just sick and wrong.

Are all piers in America like the one in Sea City? I feel left out, being in New Zealand. Reading about the awesome funfair-style tourist trap piers like in this one...I want a pier at the local beach. Then all I'd have to do is literally walk down the road. Then again, it would mean I'd visit the cash machine more often.

This is my second favorite SS. Does Toby actually know Mallory's age? It's totally creepy that they write about the two of them having a romantic interest, but at the same time I think it's a refreshing change from Claudia or Stacey having another boyfriend/interest. That's one reason I like SS 1 and SS 15, they have Dawn and Kristy getting a shot at romance for a change.

Not all of them, but most beach areas have a town that has a boardwalk with lots of games and stuff to do, and then other beach towns that are quieter with nothing on their boardwalk except maybe a concession stand. I think Ann has said Sea City is based on Sea Isle City, but the area she grew up in is close to other similar beach towns, like Point Pleasant.

I thought this had so much promise but then really fizzled out! Oddly, I kind of preferred all the initial Stoneybrook chapters - summer school, the day camp and to a limited degree, the Krushers’ game. I found the description of Kristy hunting door to door for new players hilarious, but I think there was way too much explanation of baseball for my liking. I also loved reading about Claudia making new friends and actively worrying about how those friendships would be maintained once the BSC was back in full force. Something I never realised as a child - the BSC is dead set against anyone having friends outside of the BSC. Not unlike a cult. Maybe Claudia should have stayed behind for Barbara’s (I think) post-summer school barbecue after all.
Why on earth did Karen get a chapter in this book? Truly bizarre. As was Mallory writing Mrs McGill a postcard. I did however really love Margo’s chapter. I thought her interest in - speaking of Mrs McGill - Maureen wildlife- was really cute. Perhaps a marine biologist in the making? As usual I had to grit my teeth to get through Jessi and Mary Anne’s handwriting. How on earth did I navigate it as a child?!
Did anyone else find the intensity of MA and Logan’s descriptions of their undying luv for each other just a bit unsettling? Do 13 year olds really act like this?! I guess maybe we all did but thankfully have set fire to all diaries and any evidence.
I feel like i missed something re: Stacey’s unhappiness with Mrs Barrett. Apart from being a nervous driver, what did she do that was so horrendous to Stacey? Was she quite demanding? Perhaps I skipped over the section by accident. Stacey was a troll in this one, but I definitely thought it was realistic that she would react that way to Mallory.

Isn't Sea City based after a place that Ann used visit growing?
