Thanks wanderingfrog. Now I remember that it is Bill in Sea City. How many hurricanes do they get in NJ and CT? Maybe it's like Stoneybrook's multiple Christmases, etc

I've lived in NJ since 1990, and the only hurricane I can recall was Floyd in 1999. We got the day off from school, and it just rained a lot where I was, although some other parts of the state had pretty bad flooding.

Okay I actually do like Karen, but the Hurricane in Stoneybrook was called Hurricane Karen?! Um, okay. Of course it was.

Mrs. Barrett irritated me so much in this one. I got tired of her I'm still getting used to being a single mom excuse real fast.
I'm glad Mal called Stacey out on the jealousy thing and that she did it early in the book.
And I'm still trying to comprehend how MA & Logan traveled by carriage all the way home. On the way down it was mentioned that they had to drive around NYC. How long would a backroads route take to avoid NYC? And why would any parent okay that kind of a trip for 2 thirteen year olds? or 3, I don't know how Logan's friend Terry was. And there was no adult supervision!
I totally skipped all of the little kid chapters as well as the Stoneybrook ones (except for Claud's).

Where did MA and Logan go in the carriage? I thought they just drove around Stoneybrook but I've only read this one once and it's been a while. Sounds like I need to reread. I actually think I liked it - especially Mal. Forgot about Mrs. Barrett and usually like the kid chapters, so I'll have to reread and see what I think.

I always thought that the carriage picked Mary Anne up at the Pike's house and took her home from there, but maybe I didn't read carefully enough.

^Yeah Im pretty sure the carriage picked MA up and took her home. Pretty short ride, I'm guessing. I never understood the carriage thing as a kid cause you learn about it through MAs diary entry or whatever and I never read that part, so I was always really confused as to what the heck was going on.

I'll have to reread to see about the carriage ride. It does sound short but quite romantic The only thing that might have been better was the sleigh ride in Stacey and the Mystery at the Empty House, but right now I would rather read about something warm. I'm so cold!

Okay, so maybe I've been misreading this everytime I've read this book? That makes a LOT more sense. I guess it was just MA's handwriting that threw me off. Maybe I was concetrating more on deciphering it than to what it actually said.
One other thing I just remembered is that the Prezziosos live next door to the Schafer/Spiers. I never realized that.

Shy, easily embarrassed Mary Anne would never go for being clopped through the neighborhood in an open carriage.

I actually liked the carriage ride. It may have been short, and a little cheesy, but it sounded romantic. It sounds like something I would like, only a longer ride, hehe

I always thought Mary Anne wouldn't mind all that much or be embarrassed by a carriage ride because it seems like something she'd like. Old-fashioned, romantic.

Agree, Booboo. It sounds like MA. The sleigh ride does too. She did like the ride in this SS, didn't she? I can't remember.
