I was watching TV and this commercial came on... www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdi2oUB4VSUIn the commercial, an older woman misplaces her keys and her husband finds them in the fridge. The commercial is from the Alzheimer's Foundation. Do you think that Sharon might have early-onset Alzheimer's?

No. I think Sharon just gets distracted easily. She doesn't have any issues with thinking/speech.

The only really weird thing I think Sharon ever did was only put make up on one eye. How does that happen? I can overlook forgetfulness (I've left my keys in the outside doorknob of my house overnight more than once this past year ), but I think I would notice if I only had one made up eyeball.

Hmm yeah I've forgotten to put mascara on or something, but not just one eye!

I can see where you're coming from though, guuuuuuuuuurlfriend. It could possibly make her more susceptible, somehow, to getting it in older age.

^i'm more inclined to believe she just dropped a lot of acid/smoked a lot of weed in her youth.

That's what I've always assumed, is that Sharon basically fried her brain with drugs and had no real short-term memory. I have no idea how she was able to function in the workplace.

In FF, she wanted to go back to school for architecture. There are so many things you have to keep in mind when desigining a building. Good thing she didn't go for it!

I don't think it's too weird to believe she could forget about making up one of her eyes - she could have done one eye, then the phone rings or the kitchen timer goes off or Dawn asks her a question, and then she completely forgets she was in the middle of a task before she was interrupted.

I kind of feel they flanderised Sharon's forgetfulness a bit towards the end of the series, though I'm not sure. I mean, I'm like 99% sure that I read something relatively recently where either Sharon or Richard found a power drill in the freezer or something ridiculous. Like that seriously goes beyond just absent mindedness. Though on second thoughts, that drill thing might actually have been in a fan fiction. Does that sound familiar to anyone? It's also likely that I just dreamt that up, it's like 3am right now haha.

I know Dawn found hedge clippers in the family room or something in the very beginning of the series, which is equally ridiculous. Also the high heel in the fridge. Just, what? And also gross.

We should go through and find every mention of Sharon's "forgetfulness."
Yeah, the high heel is ick!

Not a drill, but I found this quote from Kristy and Mr. Mom, regarding Sharon:
"[she] is pretty casual (some people might even call her a bit of an absent-minded slob). She'll put the wrench in the refrigerator and the milk in the tool box."
I understand how if she was holding the wrench in the first place, and went to get some milk, she might put the wrench into the fridge, but then putting the milk away in the toolbox is really stretching it.

Yep, Sharon's forgetfulness is really over exaggerated. even in the beginning, she wasn't just absentminded. I don't think she has early onset altzheimer's. Like Greer and several others mentioned, she probably did a lot of drugs. what if that was brought up in a BSC book? It could teach a lesson to the readers for the don't do drugs.
