Actually, I though Kristy getting the role was a bit unrealistic as well. Never in the books have we seen her with a desire to act/perform... I thought she just liked sports! But I was more focused on "Haha! Jessi didn't get the part!" to think about the chances of Kristy getting it.

This was one of my favourites when I was younger. I thought it was so much fun that they were putting on such a huge production. I wished my school would so the same. Now I love to read Logan's part. I like that he actually seems like a regular 13 year old boy in this one.

^ haha word. I was really surprised at his chapter. That wasn't the mature, love-god Logan we're all used to.

Hehe, Logan was cool in this! I liked how he told Kerry to be good because the Brunos had already caused enough trouble. He seemed more like a baby-sitting charge than a baby-sitter

I just reread and didn't care for it much the second time either. I usually hate Claudia but she is the only BSC member that doesn't bug me in this one. Also, I don't mind Jessi in most of the other books but she needs to get over herself in this one. I'm usually not one to say that someone needs to be brought down a few notches or that someone "thinks they're too good" and this isn't what I'm saying here. Just think that Jessi was presumptuous and cocky thinking that she was a shoo in for the lead. Kristy not remembering her lines was irritating. Dawn's feminist crap was even worse. Cokie was actually funny, though a little too much like some of the snotty kids I had to deal with growing up - realistic that way. Mallory with not wanting to touch the boys - um, you have four brothers and are a babysitter. What's the difference between measuring an 11 year old or a 10 year old? MA with the "I'm the sitter".... In Mal's defense, she was dealing with her own siblings most of the time. I think she had this right. Stacey wasn't too terrible but what was the big deal about Sam joking around? I guess it would get annoying. And she didn't know that he would be made fun of for going out with a middle school girl? Sam and Charlie were cool in this one. Anyway, enough rambling and out of time. Just my thoughts.

I always LOVED this one...I was into drama when I was younger, and my dream was always to be in a big frikking musical like this one. Too bad I'm like Jessi and can't sing. Her attitude really bugged me throughout this book; I don't remember her being so cocky and stuck up in any other book. I can totally see Kristy as Peter Pan and Dawn as Wendy, but I think it was a little unrealistic to cast Stacey as Mrs. Darling. I would have thought that part would go to a high schooler, just to give the impression that the character IS older than the children. I guess we wouldn't have had the Sam/Stacey dynamic in quite the same way, if someone else had gotten the part. It might have been interesting if Stacey had gotten jealous because her boyfriend was "married" to someone else, though.

I really like the concept of this one because it's a welcome change from the vacation SSs. However, I agree that it was unrealistic that the BSC got such big parts, especially since only Jessi really showed an interest in performing. Is it even realistic that a girl would be cast as Peter Pan, let alone Kristy? I always thought that a woman traditionally played him because the part was considered too difficult for a young boy to do and a grown woman seems more like a young boy than a grown man. Does anyone know if that's true? If it is and you're going to cast a thirteen year old, why not cast a thirteen year old boy? If they were trying to follow the stage traditions, why not have the same person play Captain Hook and Mr. Darling? There actually seems to be a plot reason for that. Or maybe they want more kids to get a chance to perform. Speaking of that, did anybody else wonder about Lucas Danver, the guy who played Captain Hook? All they said that he was that some girl thought he was the most gorgeous guy in high school. Did Nancy Dawes have a part? I seem to recall that she was interested in performing. It would have been awesome if she got the part of Tinkerbelle, making Karen mad. That could have been a good plot. I liked the part when Cokie found out that Kristy had the part of Peter Pan. "I don't believe it. Actually, I do believe it. that girl gets everything." I actually kind of agree with that. I can't really remember Mallory's "measuring phobia" but wasn't it just for older guys? There's definitely a difference between that and younger kids.

It does make sense that if they were going to cast a thirteen year old they may as well have cast a boy. But, then, this is BSC Land where things are ultra-pc and very feminist.
I have heard about different feminists saying that Peter Pan is sexest. There are actually books out about things from Wendy's point of view.

this is still one of my favorite super specials. but i do think it's annoying that the BSC landed like, all the main parts.

I find it believable that thirteen year olds would get the parts of Peter Pan and Wendy because the characters really are that age. However, a thirteen year old playing Mrs. Darling when high schoolers are in the play too is really unlikely.

You're forgetting how super-sophisticated and mature Stacey is, so she can easily play older roles!

Something funny about this book that I never noticed until I started reading it again last night. On the back cover, at the very top, it says, "They'll never grow up" in blue letters. It's true....they never did.

This was my favorite SS, because when I was younger I loved the theater and the idea of putting on plays. It also has some good snarky moments like the "horse" line. I remember when I first read the book at the age of 9 or 10 thinking that "Mutiny" was a bad word because of the way the characters were so shocked and appalled when Logan shouted it during rehersal. LOL
