I was rereading shannon's chapter, and I realized that I don't really like it. I like the story, it's not that. I don't really like that it is kind of an "excuse" for her behavior in Kristy and the Snobs. Why couldn't she have just been a snob who reformed? Character development is good. Ret-conning is bad. Grrr to ... whoever wrote BSC Remembers. ITA. This bothered me when I reread the book a couple months ago. Same reasons that you said: I liked her as a character with a flaw who changed over time. Now, the books basically made it so it's like "Shannon, like all the other BSCers, can't do anything mean. The one time she looked like she was doing something mean was just because she was a victim herself."

I re-reading this book for the second time and still love it! This is my most favorite Super Special of all-time because Shannon has a chapter in it.
I have one question about the charm that used to come with it(I got my copy used for 1$, so it is missing the charm) is the charm the same one that came with the Audio Cassette of this book or are they completely different?

I reread parts of this last night, I can't remember when I last read it though I remember what I did love for years.
I think the Shannon story is lame now though I used to like it back when the book came out. Sally White just had no social skills cause of the lifestyle she had and was very obnoxious.
Claudia really does seem to have ADHD or something with being unable to sit still, but she's creative at that age too, I loved reading about her butterfly and still do
The Mary Anne story was good and the Stacey one made me feel so bad for her, I just wanted to hug her. I forgot just how hard it was for her in 6th grade.

I liked this super special because I like reading about what happened to them when they were younger. Jessi - I liked reading Jessi's chapters because it was interesting how she and Becca didn't want Squirt to come. I found it slightly funny when Becca planed on calling her brother "It." I like how Jessi bonded with her brother while he had colic. Mallory - Poor girl just can't get a break. Still, I liked reading her chapters. Mary Anne - I liked it when she, Kristy and Claudia played those pranks on her babysitter. Kristy - Not my favorite but still, I liked it. Dawn - It was interesting to read about the divorce. I wonder where Mr. Schaffer was when he wasn't home at night. Stacey - I felt sorry for Stacey and I agree that those girls were horrible to her, especially Allison. Stacey was nice enough to introduce her to her friends and this she repays her by letting everyone know what happened at the sleepover. How rude! Claudia - I felt sorry for Claudia when she was embarrassed by her teacher. I like that Mimi defended her and that the teacher apologized to Claudia. Logan - It was interesting to read about how he liked Mary Anne from his point of view. It seems like he stalked her a little until he finally got some information about her from his friends. Shannon - I liked reading her chapters. It was interesting to read about her school life from her point of view.

I love this one! I love just the sleepover scene in itself. It makes me miss being that young and just hanging with friends chowing down and not having a care in the world Mary Anne's was my favorite. I think I just like reading about the three girls when they were younger and seeing how Kristy and Claudia wanted to make sure MA had good experiences. I love that Claudia doesn't like Kristy's dad! PS - this made me tack my mom's slippers to the floor when I was younger....she did not laugh! Kristy, shannon, logan - boring to me Mal - sigh, geez she just can't ever be cool. It would have been nice had the author recognized her from the letter and calmed down the crying. Jessi's I loved b/c I don't like babies either. I actually call them it or things and well I have to work around them all the time sooooooo...I think I picked the wrong job hahaha. There are these thing 1 and thing 2 t-shirts for kids from Dr. Seuss and I just love it! Claudia's just loved for Mimi's presences. Until reading this thread and then rereading the book, I liked Dawn's dad but now I hate him! Like others, I do believe he cheated. What a selfish dirtbag but I guess Sharon wasn't any better moving across the country. I would assume though that the dad would have to give an okay for them to move?

I love this one! I love just the sleepover scene in itself. It makes me miss being that young and just hanging with friends chowing down and not having a care in the world. I would have preferred an entire SS dedicated to a crazy sleepover night! The memory stories didn't do it for me.

A sleepover probably would've been fun to read about.

I just quickly re-read. The only reasons I liked Kristy's and Claudia's were because the two characters I loved the most (in BSC verse) were alive and healthy in them, namely Mimi and Louie.
Mary Anne's was funny the first time. The rest were boring. I agree with you Sparklymouse about the sleepover. It also would have been interesting had just (any time, not necessarily in an S.S.) Kristy, Mary Anne, and Claudia had a sleepover. Just the three of them. I wish they had spent more time together.

I haven't read this in years, Kristy was the only chapters I couldn't remember what they were about, shows how much impact they had on me I think it would have been interesting to read about a time when her father was there or when he just left (I would think that would be a fairly vivid memory for her). My favourite was probably Claudia, just because Mimi is the best

I apologize if I've asked this before but did we ever get to read about (maybe in a LS book) Kristy and Mary Anne's "marathon bike ride?" Kristy mentions it right at the beginning.

Well, been long time since I was read this book. I'll tell you my favorite story to least. 1.Mary Anne 2. Claudia. 3. Jessi 4. Stacey 5. Mallory 6. Kristy 7. Logan 8. Shannon 9. Dawn Mary Anne: Her story is cool. Mrs. Tate went along with practical joke. Didn't get upset or abandon the girls. I like, that one lady, took Mary Anne to Bridge. Sounds like fun. Better than that one lady, cleaning the house, almost looses Mary Anne. Claudia: You go Mimi. You tell that teacher. I will been like Claudia. A self portrait, something I see as myself. Jessi: I always like stories about new born. I didn't know, Mrs. Rasmey miscarried two babies before she had Squirt. Stacey: I like the slumber party. But, Laine was so cruel to her. When she wet the bed. That must been awful for Stacey. Mallory: Poor Mallory. She was waiting to see her favorite author. She starts crying. Glad her mother helped her out. (I just hope, I don't cried in front of my favorite celebs. If, i meet them someday.) Kristy: Eh, nothing special. Just baby-sitting her younger brother. More like answering the phone 100 times. If, her mom was worried, so much. Why just have one of the neighbors stayed with Kristy & Michael. Have Kristy do the baby-sitting. Like Mrs. Newton, just keep an eye on them. Logan: Car trip was fun. (I used color in the car when we go on vacation.) Reading his side version of meeting Mary Anne the first time. (I also haven't read book #10 in long time.) Shannon: Boring & dull. Woo, now we know why she being a snob to Kristy in #11. (other book, I haven't read in a while.) Dawn: Family is just dull. (Even before the divorced.) Mr. Shaffer. Going out all day & all night long. Red alert: Cheating!! Maybe with Carol. (his new girlfriend, later on in the series.) or different lady. But being out with friends for like all day long at his age. That's like, he didn't want get married in the first place. Did Mr. & Mrs. Shaffer got married before Dawn was born, during or after?

I was always confused as to whether it was Stacey or Shannon on the cover. Maybe because of the hair, the pointy nose, and the plaid PJs... I thought the portrayal seemed to be more of Shannon than of Stacey. Also, there is a seriousness about the girl that reminds me of Shannon, since Stacey always seems lighthearted on the Super Special covers (Sea City especially).
But the book was published July 1994 so it must be Stacey. I thought for a moment that it could have been written during Stacey vs. the BSC days.
BUT if it was written in July 1994, that means that Dawn was in California... so is that her on the cover? Can she be in more than one place?! (Wow I'm over-analyzing this)

That's Stacey and Shannon as the blondes-Dawn is in California, so she's not on the cover!
