^ i actually loved that logan's section was a rehash of logan likes MA. it was really fun and refreshing to see a familiar story from a new perspective, and i thought it was sweet that they were both so nervous about being around the other!

Mal's chapter is super lame to me now. I think because Amelia Moody is supposed to be Ann (she signs the way Ann does, "To so and so, a special fan. Happy reading!"), Mal would have stood there blubbering if Mrs. Pike hadn't come to her rescue. Ann probably didn't do much small talk with her fans. And poor Mrs. Pike! She wanted to have a fun spring girl's day, and here comes Mal down the stairs, all somber, in her turtleneck and tights Plus the whole time she's standing in line she's reading. virgo, this made me lol: I really like Jessi's chapter, because it gives us this:

Don't most mothers keep an emergency bag ready in case they go into labour prematurely? I would think they discuss this with who they are seeing, and come up with a family plan. Not sure whether to call the Ramseys or ghostwriters idiots this time

It makes me think of the episode of Murphy Brown where Murphy gives birth to Avery and Frank packs a bag for her and brings it to the hospital. He includes a ridiculous amount of underwear and her stapler, and she says something like, "That's just great, Frank. I was just thinking I'd like to PUT ON ALL MY UNDERWEAR AND STAPLE SOMETHING!"

I was reading Stacey's chapters in this book, and I had forgotten that she mentions she'd been planning to try out for the soccer team at Parker in sixth grade. It makes me kind of sad to think that her health wasn't good enough to play soccer that year because her diabetes wasn't under control at all yet, and then I guess she lost interest by the time she moved to Stoneybrook. Stacey and Abby could have totally bonded over that if she'd still been interested in soccer! Or maybe not, because Abby is super-competitive, Stacey isn't at least not with respect to sports, so that might have just driven Abby up the wall!

I think Stacey said her parents wouldn't have let her play soccer anyway.
I really liked this book as well. I thought it was kind of funny how Logan said his memory was from a year ago, even though with the BSC timewarp it can't have been a year ago. They are starting eighth grade all over again, and he met Mary-Anne at the beginning of eighth.
I liked most of their stories from when they were little kids though, I think that's why I loved the portrait editions so much. When I was younger, after I read all the portrait editions I actually wrote one for myself. I don't know whatever happened to it though. I think I was either 12 or 13 when I wrote it. I can kind of relate with Claudia but something completely different. I have a learning disability, it takes me a lot longer to learn things. So when I was in school sometimes I had to go to another classroom with a teacher who helped with kids like me. The problem was she was extremely impatient with us. Normally she had about ten of us at a time and from different grades. She wasn't the right person to be working with people with learning problems though because she would lose her patience with us. I remember she made one boy in the first grade cry because she didn't like the way he coloured. A lot of people have problems with pronouncing or spelling my last name. It's a very simple last name, and I've never understood why people have problems with it, but they do. It's spelled with two L's at the end though. Most people spell it with one. When I was in third grade, I spelled it the way it's supposed to be spelled. And she lost it on me. She told me it was time to grow up and it was ridiculous that by third grade I couldn't spell my last name even if I was slow. I started to cry and I explained that it was how it was spelled, but she refused to listen. She set up a meeting to have with my mom to come in. They usually had meetings once a month with our parents for our learning disabilties. She told my mom the whole problem, and told her that perhaps she should take more time to spend with me and actually teach me to spell my name properly. My mom ended up losing it on her, and told her that I had been spelling my name properly the whole time, and it was her who was wrong.
I think there are certain people who should never be teachers for reasons like that. Especially that lady, a person who works with special needs kids should be compassionate, not someone who will make them feel stupid, which she did. She had kids crying all the time because she would lose her patience if they didn't learn something quick enough.
I found Mallory's story boring. I get that she had a story that went with her personality but I thought it should have been something to do with the family. Like when Claire when was born or anything to do with her brothers and sisters. Meeting a book author would be great, but she had to have had more vivid memories in her life than that. I don't know, I just love reading about the Pike family. I liked Jessi's story, and I can find it believable that she didn't want another baby at first. I think a lot of children feel that way when a new sibling comes.

She couldn't check with the school secretary on your name spelling? Sorry that had to happen to you (and other kids)

My last name used to be misspelled all the time. Just by kids, not teachers, though. Instead of Kyles, it was spelled as Kiles.

I'm sure my teacher had the correct spelling for my last name as well. My last name is still spelled wrong even now. At work they spell it with one l even though it's two. I've had to go in and correct them several times after I've gotten my pay. I don't get why it's so hard for people to understand it.

On the cover... which one is Stacey and which one is Shannon?
I've always had trouble telling them apart since I first got the book ages ago! Lol.

^I've always felt that Stacey is the one getting her hair done by Claudia (which makes sense, since they're BFFs, and she's in the middle of the group and looks comfortable with everyone), and the one who is off to the side doing her nails is Shannon (she appears to be interacting with the group less than the others, which makes sense since Shannon knows the club members the least).

I agree, although Stacey looks very puppet-like in this one.

Stacey looks sweaty and tired, not sophisticated NYC like haha
I used to mix up the two cause Stacey is stylish and I thought she would be the one putting on nailpolish, but the picture of Shannon in the book was like the nailpolish one. It also made sense to me Claudia and Stacey were close
