The girl who is getting her hair done by claudia seems to be a redhead though. I guess they decided to give stacey a makeover for this cover.
And shannon was depicted as having lighter blonde hair but on the cover its a dark blonde

We discussed it earlier in the thread. The Shannon illustration in the book looks a lot like the not-smiling Shannon on the cover IMO.

Speaking of Shannon, what was Sally White's problem? Anyone met people like her?

That was a bit wierd but I don't think I've ever known anyone similar.

I thought most of the memories felt a little too unsurprising, what you would expect or had imagined.
Dawn's was the best, interesting and sad to see how the parents' marriage fell apart. I got the impression that the father might have been drinking alcohol while away, although not enough for the kids to notice it, but Sharon falsely suspected/accused him of infidelity (and that what he was most upset about). I got the impression in the early Dawn books that she really resented her father and blamed him for the breakup and it was interesting that here she was balanced in her frustration and blame. Shannon's was weird, that she got so upset over getting pulled away from schoolwork for a few hours and that there wasn't a lot of resolution or insight into Sally. Interesting that young Janine actually was a little mean to and definitely exasperated with young Claudia. Logan saying Stacey or Tracey was a little too blockhead-y and I would have expected Alan to warn him against the club girls, at least Kristy, but his memory was still OK. It was amusing that Mary Anne was so goody-goody that she refused Kristy's offered snack since it had been not allowed. But it was weird and even unbelievable that the sitter was so strict about food and then relaxed about nailed slippers.

I liked that Dawn directly, simply told her parents that they tell her and Jeff to talk and work through their problems so they should do the same, good response to the parents seeming to be acting inconsistently. Sharon did seem pretty unreasonable in insisting she and the kids move so far away so suddenly, it made me see better why a lot of other readers were bothered by it.

I ended up skipping a little bit of Mary Anne's chapter until I got to the pranks. Mrs. Tate was pretty cool and wasn't mad at the girls for their pranks. I feel so terrible for Stacey in her chapter, I would be glad to move too. Not only that but when she's back in New YOrk before her parents divorced, she's still kind of friends with some of these people I think.
Logan's was fun, I like reading a second point of view of an event we already saw.
Dawn's dad was definitely cheating I feel like. I wonder how long he and Sharon weren't sleeping in the same room for?
I have a feeling that Shannon's story could be a bit darker if they could add it.

I love that part too and felt it was a realistic thing for a kid to say even though I don't know if it's actually good advice. Kids seem to often want their parents to practice what they preach. I don't know if this was mentioned already but one word in Claudia's story made it that much more heartwarming and awesome. "My timid Mimi off to confront [Claudia's teacher]." Mimi was probably terrified to do that, not only for her timidness but also possibly the language aspect, but she did it because she knew Claudia needed her.

I loved Mimi also. I can see why Mary Anne loved her also.

This one was all right. All of them were enjoyable. I think most of them were fitting, although I wanted something different from Kristy (although it's in character). I really liked Claudia's and Mary Anne's chapters because I like reading about the three of them growing up together.
Shannon's was sort of weird. I'm not a big fan of Shannon really and wish her character was more developed. I didn't even like her reader's request that much (sorry!). I do think it provides some insight as to why she was so snobby to Kristy at first, just... sort of weird. Sally was VERY strange and that story would be better if there was more to it.
I thought Jessi's sorry was really sweet actually.
Laine is such a b*tch. I'm glad Stacey FINALLY saw that in #51. I get being grossed out by your friend wetting the bed, but her taking Allison's side when she originally disliked her was so messed up. I didn't recall her being so bossy in earlier books. Sadly, her behavior is realistic.
The situation with the Schafer kids was terrible. I felt so bad for Dawn and Jeff. There should be some law about moving them across the country in the middle of the school year. It felt like there wasn't much notice either. After reading this, I really understand why Jeff lashed out so much and why Dawn eventually moved back to California full-time. It feels so messed up. I know this has likely been talked about to death, but it feels very unfair to the kids and Jack.
