I feel as though shannon hides her emotions. Given her family situation, I think her true most vivid memory would be too much for a bsc book. I think it was too hard to find one that drew from canon that wasn't depressing.

The one thing that always confused me about this book is that Stacey is wearing school uniform in the picture with Laine. She also talks about Alison having a brand new uniform. This confused me because Stacey tells Mary Anne in 'Kristy's Great Idea' that she didn't have to wear a uniform at her New York School.

I don't think Alison was actually wearing a uniform. She just had the bookbag and sweatshirt, right? I haven't read this one in awhile, so I could be wrong.

Is it strange that I totally choked up when Mimi gave her little "speech" to the art teacher about Claudia having done nothing wrong and seeing herself as a free spirit...Mimi was amazing and I loved her!
Mr. Schafer was made out to be a complete jerk in this book. In others he's put in a fairly positive light, going to lengths to entertain Dawn and Jeff when they're in CA. And it surprised me they included stuff about him staying out all night. Plus, Dawn blaming it all on her mother when her parents told her about the divorce -- weird, I would have thought she would be a bit more perceptive right before being hit with the "announcement."
That was sad, especially when she thought to herself that he was an ugly baby when first seeing him in the hospital. Funny that this was only supposed to have occurred a year before...

^I never thought Mr. Schafer was portrayed all that well. He always seemed lazy and irresponsible to me, like he was really stoked to send the kids to live with their mother and become a bachelor. The whole housekeeper thing really turned me off of him.

I don't remember -- did he have the housekeeper before Jeff moved back in with him? That's so weird. And lazy.

I don't think Mrs. Bruen was there before Jeff moved back to CA. I think Mr. Schafer told Jeff that if he (Jeff) were to move back then they'd need a housekeeper. I never though about it, but that is lazy.

Looked at the complete guide, and Mrs. Bruen first appears in #23, so I suppose she wasn't there before Jeff moved back.

He says specifically that if Jeff comes back, he'll need a housekeeper. For one kid. Ridiculous.

I loved it. I loved that babysitter that took MA to that Bingo parlor, who got fired by Richard for doing so. And that babysitter that played that joke on them. And I don't know if Claud's teacher would have made that big of a deal about Claud's picture in real life. I would have thought she would think Claud was "thinking outside of the box" or something. I don't know, my art teacher in elementary school was pretty similar to Claudia's. If we didn't do our projects EXACTLY as she deemed appropriate, she'd start ranting at us. She definitely wasn't one for thinking outside the box.

I really like this book more now that I am older. Mimi was so sweet in this book. Overall I just love Claudia's relationship with her. I got so mad at the art teacher though! My art teachers in elementary school were all about creativity.
I also liked Maryanne's chapter a lot, they seemed like such cute kids.

He says specifically that if Jeff comes back, he'll need a housekeeper. For one kid. Ridiculous. Maybe Mr. Schaeffer wasn't very good at cooking and cleaning and stuff, and though that didn't matter to him when he was living alone, he decided he wanted a better environment for Jeff.

I just finished this one and didn't care much for it. I think it's my least favorite Super Special. Some of the memories were okay but others were just kind of boring or something. Though in character, I thought it was kind of strange that Kristy's most vivid memory was the first time she babysat. That didn't seem like that big of thing but I guess it was to her. I liked Stacey's section and really felt for her. Even if it is typical of kids to react like that to a friend's hard times, it still hurts and I can understand how she just wanted a new start in Stoneybrook. I didn't care for Claud's chapter - probably because I am the total opposite of an "artistic" type so couldn't understand the butterfly thing. I did like Mimi in that one, though. I liked Jessi's chapter pretty well and found it quite touching and it reminded me of feelings I had before my little cousin was born (she's ten years younger - like Jessi and Squirt's age difference). Poor Mallory - will Ann ever let anything good happen to her? I also liked Shannon's chapter and how she chose to study - I could relate and thought it gave a pretty good message. I think Logan's chapter was my favorite. It was really sweet about how he met MA and for some reason, there is something attractive to me about a guy coloring and not being "too cool" to do things like that (that's probably twisted but... I also liked Dawn's chapter pretty well - especially the scene with her Granny. I felt sorry for her and it gave me a lot of insight into her life. I have a feeling now that the Schafer marriage ended because he was cheating. MA's chapter was okay, nothing remarkable. In all, the book just didn't make a big impression on me. I prefer some of the super specials where they go somewhere warm

I liked Logan's memory cause I thought it was hilarious how he was basically stalking Mary Anne around SMS, and it was kinda cool to read about his first meeting from his perspective, but the bit about sitting for Jackie? They practically copied and pasted it from Logan Likes Mary Anne! I skipped that whole thing. I know his first meeting was described in Logan Likes Mary Anne as well, but it felt different in this book whereas the sitting job seemed EXACTLY the same. I'm actually reading this right now, I'm on Mallory's chapter and can't bring myself to start it, lol. I think Jessi's chapter might be my favorite I like how she refuses to call Squirt by his nickname and how Becca says she'll call him It. haha. But then they have their tender little moment and she decides that Squirt is a cute nickname it's sweet. Kristy's chapter seems very typical of her, I actually liked that it was about babysitting.
