This was my fave super special as a kid. When I reread it as an adult I was like...whhhhaat? wtf is happening? It's much easier to suspend your disbelief when you're 8, I think 😂 Yeah, Jessi babysitting alone is crazy, but I also thought the sailing club letting two 13 year olds take sailboats full of young kids alone with little notice was also pretty ridiculous. And whyyyyy did they throw the granola bars away just because they were soggy? If I were stranded on an island with no hope of rescue, I'm gonnna eat a wet granola bar. I still love this SS tho!

I just started rereading Island Adventure and so far, I'm enjoying Claud and Dawn's dynamics despite their opposite stances on junk food. Mary Anne is such a cow in this book. Even though I always skip pages where Dawn and Mary Anne fight, I read spoilers and I got to say that Mary Anne got exactly what she deserved from Dawn in Mary Anne's Makeover & I normally hate Dawn! But I digress.

I always wonder how they decided on Claudia and Dawn as the stranded two? Just a very random choice!

Picking Dawn and Claudia is really weird. It's as if the author and editors picked their names from papers in a hat.
However, it is a good thing because they rarely hang out in the regular series. If they do, they are frequently at odds with each other regarding the junk food matter. Especially from Dawn's side.

That's a good point! I never questioned why Claudia and Dawn were chosen out of all the BSC members to be stranded together. To come think of it, it is weird. I understand that isn't Mal and Jessi since they're only eleven, Logan and Shannon because they're not really that involved in the BSC, but you'd think it'd be Claudia and Stacey or Dawn and MA or Kristy and MA or even Stacey and MA. That being said, though, Claudia and Dawn do make an interesting pair and it was interesting to read about them working together. My guess is that they're put together is because Claudia has low self-esteem and the author wanted to give her something good to do and Dawn is really outdoorsy and has already had experience with sailing?

I think it worked better that Claudia and Dawn weren't one of the best friends pairs. I honestly wouldn't care how Mary Anne and Kristy or Dawn would have ended up.
It cracks me up with how undercover athletic Claudia was with her rich kid sports of sailing and skiing. I'm surprised she didn't do horseback riding, too.

^good point!
Stacey and MA got their place in the sun (literally) in the Sea City books. I wouldn't have wanted to read about Kristy the hero stranded on a desert island lol

Stacey and kristy would have been a funny pair to see go off together.

Kristy would have built a whole village and would never want to leave. Stacey would have died.

Kristy would have built a whole village and would never want to leave. Stacey would have died. Oh yes, haha, that would be some super special. Kristy would have rounded the kids on her side. Although their banter in European vacation was fun.

If the whole club somehow got stranded it would have wound up like Lord of the Flies.

I would have eaten them too, saltwater-soaked and all! No way of knowing how long you'd be stranded, so might as well hang onto them just in case.

Kristy would have rounded the kids on her side. Although their banter in European vacation was fun. Hey, on the note of Kristy getting the kids on her side, I was reminded of something. I think, of all the girls, Kristy is the one most likely to end up working with kids later on. Her natural talents and traits would serve her best with kids. She's bossy, but that's probably a good thing in this case. She seems the most capable of looking after several kids. My guess is that she'd be a sports coach at an elementary school. I think she'd be really good at that. Or maybe she'd be some kind of entertainer - she loves to be in the limelight, and she loves planning out events. Sorry, totally off-track. But if I have to talk about Kristy in this book...yeah. Nothing much to say. Bart was a jerk to her. I would've totally chewed him out.
