^ To be fair, in that particular book, they were being stalked by a crazy man. Though I totally get what you're saying. Most of the time it was Cokie. You'd think they wouldn't be so gullible after a while, but apparently not.
Also, as creepy as that cover is, I love that H.S. felt the need to put a kid on the cover. I guess to remind us that these books are about baby-sitters? (Though with the series being called the Baby-Sitters Club, somehow I don't think anyone would miss that fact!). I just love how Kristy and Stacey are clearly scared out of their minds, and Andrew is like, "Hey look, a snowflake!" and totally oblivious to the scary stalker man. It kind of ruins the effect, but it's pretty funny.
Back to Island Adventure for a second: I loved how Claud was totally swearing at the beginning. I used to be so shocked when I read that she was "muttering words she probably shouldn't say," or whatever it says. For some reason, that particular scene always stands out in my mind whenever I think about the book.

^ I know! I used to love it when characters would swear and they'd say stuff like that. I think Mrs. Barrett did it in SS #10, and Dawn's mom in SS #7.

haha SS10 is where Mrs Barrett is freaking out about driving to Sea City and swearing right? I always thought that was hilarious. And Stacey tries to calm her down by saying her dad didn't learn to drive til he was in his 20s and Mrs Barrett is basically like "WTF? I don't care *HONK HONK*"

^ I thought that was so funny. So did my mom when I read it to her because it sounds so much like her and my aunt ;D Made the characters seem much more real when they did things like this.

This super special sucks bc nine o clock island has no 13 year old boy for one of the girls to fall in LUV with. It would have been sooo much better if the island was actually a private island and on the other side was a vacation mansion, and either dawn or claudia could have hooked up with the owner's son. Instead we just have logan and bart being jerks.

^ The private island idea is interesting ;D I'm not a fan of the whole stranded on a deserted island plot in any book, though, so that would have been good for me. Agree about Logan and Bart being total jerks. Usually I like Logan but not in this one. Never like Bart and this book is one big reason why. He was totally insensative. So was Stacey's dad. I have a feeling Bart might grow up to be like that - selfish. Though he is only 13 so there might be hope

Another thing about this book--it's rarely mentioned in the remainder of the series. It seems like being stranded on a desert island would be a pretty significant event. Wouldn't it have created a special bond between dawn and claudia and the kids they were stranded with?

^ Another good point that I never considered. I would have liked to seen more interaction between Claud and Dawn and some of the other "non best friend" pairs.Once in a while, we got to see Claud and Kristy together but never her with MA or Dawn (except in this book). I think an experience like that would have definitely created a bond.

hmm that is a good point, greer. They kinda just forget this ss even happened. They talk about other SSs all the time. a closer relationship between claudia and dawn when they get back would've been a cool storyline.

you gave me something to think about now. It would have been interesting to see more of a strong bond between Claudia and Dawn later on. Especially if they went through what they went through.

I think Claudia more than kinda forgets it ever happened, sotypical, since in Everything Changes she says she's never been stranded on an island before. ;D Wouldn't it have created a special bond between dawn and claudia and the kids they were stranded with? I'm pretty sure there is nothing in the world that could create a special bond between me and Dawn. Maybe if she gave me a kidney or something. But I'm not sure I'd want one of Dawn's organs. It might cause me to suddenly find the sight of a Mars bar disgusting.

It makes claudia and the little liar even more annoying bc you'd think haley would be all oh yeah claud kind of saved my life.
