The fourth floor was an attic. The third floor had rooms but didn't seem to be used, which doesn't make sense to me.

^Thanks, Greer. I believe Kristy, Stacey and/or Mallory tell us that the Brewer attic is one room after another as opposed to just one small space. So that floor at one time could have been actual bedrooms or other living rooms, don't know. ITA on the third floor. Did that floor simply gather dust?

I think it's just the way attics were in those days. My neighbors across the street have a Victorian, and their attic is in separate rooms and even has a balcony. My dad's beach house is sort of in faux Victorian style, and the attic is where I stay when I visit. It has a bedroom and a playroom and a bathroom and a balcony. I guess it may be considered just a third (or fourth, in Kristy's case) floor, but usually it's considered an attic. Also, I think in Victorian houses they were often servant's quarters. I just asked my mom about a friend of hers who lived in an old Victorian parsonage, and she said that his third floor/attic had three bedrooms, which in the old days were used for servants. So I think that is the explanation for rooms in an attic. Much like the Brewers', it was supposedly haunted and he would take us ghost-hunting in attic, where early 20th century noises would come from late at night

I do wonder how old the mansion is. Probably a century old since old Ben Brewer lived there, and he died ages ago. However, did they even establish how old he was when he died?
I remember in book #11 Kristy and the Snobs, Kristy mentioned that everybody in her neighborhood had a pool except for Watson, and she claimed tha he'd been thinking about putting in a pool. It never happened, didn't it?

I think it was in Karen's Ghost where it was mentioned he died. I'd have to reread it.

Karen's ghosts says that his birthday was Halloween. Ben's son is Jeremy who is Karen's grandfather but no years was mentioned.

I always struggled to picture a mansion without a pool too, lol, but I'm from Queensland so mansions are built to put shade over the pools.

Yeah, I always assume that Watson's mansion must have a pool, because you know, it's a mansion! haha but then I realize that yeah, not once does it ever say that it has a pool. I have a hard time imagining Kristy and her brothers chilling by the pool every day and having pool parties.

The house doesn't make sense to me. So there was a bedroom for Watson and Elizabeth, one for Nannie, and one each for Charlie, Sam, Kristy, David Michael, Karen, Andrew and Emily. At least 9 bedrooms but they didn't use the third floor which only had 3 bedrooms? Were all 9 bedrooms on the second floor? Was the third floor smaller? Then I know they had a living room, a playroom, Watson's office/library (or were those separate rooms), a kitchen, a dining room, the second kitchen/former pantry where Nannie made candy and was there a den too? Plus who knows how many bathrooms and probably a separate laundry room. I would love to try and recreate the mansion maybe in the Sims but the house is so baffling and I cannot find a similar floor plan

Maybe there was a room on the first floor? I know some older houses have rooms on that floor too.

That’s actually a pretty realistic looking depiction of Watson’s mansion!
