Unlike 'the baby-sitters' club european vacation, this book was terrible. And wasn't worth the £3 it was selling for on amazon uk.
Infact, I can't think of a single BSC book or SS worst than this book.
I was uninterested in any of the 'plots'.
I mean Stacey and the plane/helicopter crash- who cared?
Claudia's problem - Ditto.
The babysitting back in stoneybrook Plot- Pathetic!! Again, who honestly cared? And surpise, surprise, the pike kids seem to be featured heavily in this. (Is it just me or are the pike kids multiplying? And how is it the pike parents are never in? The mum don't work ffs)
If I have forgotten any plots, it's probably because they were instantly forgettable.
Ironically, This should have been a good book. I thought that we'd be focusing more (or atleast seeing them interact with the baby-sitters) on other students (since it was a school holiday with just 50 people).

I was just going to start a thread on this book but I have some different thoughts. I was actually going to say that I reread it and liked it this time, even though I didn’t when I read it several years ago. Not sure why I liked it because like you said, there isn’t much in terms of plot. I don’t really care about Stacey and the plane crash and Abby with the volleyball commercial or about Mary Anne and Logan’s trial together but apart thing. As for Claudia’s story, I didn’t like it the first time but did this time. Maybe because it shows that she has some deeper thoughts about something that doesn’t have to do with art. I also liked reading about Pearl Harbor. Maybe that is the reason that I liked the book right now – the location in general. Hawaii is sounding really good right about now since I am sitting up in Michigan freezing! As for the subplot, didn’t much care about the farm camp thing but liked the storyline with Mallory and Jenny at the playground. I was happy that Kristy didn’t get mad at Mallory when Mrs. Wallenfleet (or whatever her name was) called and thought it was hilarious when the lady’s own brat pitched a fit – justice was served without intervention on the part of the BSC I found Mallory pretty funny in this book. She is one of my favorite sitters and always has been but I’m just starting to recognize some of her humor. Anyway, not sure why I liked it but …. Maybe it just made me warm. Isn’t it summer in Australia???

I liked Abby's parts, where she stocked up on weird little souvenirs and then was in that TV commercial and got a horrible sunburn. But I agree that this is one of the less memorable Super Specials and kind of boring at times.

I really disliked Stacey in this book. She was such a b*tch to Robert! I didn't mind Mary Anne baby-sitting, or Abby's tv ad. Mallory had a cool plot, too. But Kristy's chapter with Tia and Karen (I think) was boring, Dawn cleaning up a beach was boring, Mary Anne adnd Logan's TBI was barely touched on...

I didn't mind this book either, probably because i loved the location too. I actually really enjoyed Abby's chapter. I love tacky souvenirs too and would so sing stupid songs that were about Hawaii. On reflection again I do agree that a lot of the plots were boring, especially Dawn's.

I actually liked this super special. I liked the chapter showing Abby getting up in the morning . I know exactly how it feels to have to wake up that earlier, unlike abby though I had to get up for work not a vacation. hehe. I think part of my like for this book is the location.

Either Jessi or Mal ALWAYS freak out in a super special. IE: spying on the ocean princess, the whole camp mohawk problem, mal spying AGAIN, mal freaking out about the mystery notebook in one of the super mysteries, etc. they need to calm down.

I thought this one was okay. I actually liked Claudia's chapters at first... but then it went on and on and on and I started skipping bits because she just kept saying the same thing over and over! Dawn cleaning the beach was so boring. I cringed everytime it went back to Kristy or Mallory in Stoneybrook, although Mal's storyline really wasn't that bad. I wish they would've went into MA and Logan's TBI thing a bit more, kinda seemed random. I liked when the plane went down, and they were all trooping through the woods or whatever and Stacey said the other kids seemed like they were part mountain goat. heh.

I wasn't a big fan of this one. I only read it a year ago, but it wasn't very memorable for me. I'm going to see what I can remember about it without reading the rest of the thread...
Okay, I actually liked Claudia and the Pearl Harbor stuff very much. The only other things I remember are that Abby was in a commercial for sunscreen or something where she had to play beach volleyball, and Stacey was in the world's most boring helicopter crash. And Kristy and Mallory weren't there, Kristy because her family had just gone to Hawaii, and Mallory because for once her parents were like, "Mallory, we have eight friggin' kids, so NO you friggin' well canNOT go to Hawaii because we are not made of money." So instead they worked at the Stones' farm camp.

I just reread this one, and the cover of the book is what puzzles me the most. Take good look at it; the girl that's second from right is supposed to be Dawn...at least, it looks basically like Dawn does on her other covers. So why is she smiling at the guy who I'm assuming is supposed to be Robert? Is she trying to flirt with Stacey's boyfriend while they're having their troubles? The other guy has blonder hair, which makes him Logan. Dawn smiling at Logan would make more sense. I don't get it....that, and I don't get why they all look just plain WEIRD. Mary Anne especially. Couldn't they come up with a more attractive cover?

Meh, I have mixed feelings about this one. I did adore Mallory's plot though and Abby amused me. I thought Claudia's plot was interesting. It is nice to see that Claudia cares about something besides art and weird clothes.
I think Mary-Anne's and Logan's plot would have been better with a little more explaining.

I think I've decided I didn't like this one much, after all. I read it for the first time back in June and can't for the life of me remember what happens with half of the girls.

The best parts of this book were the location and Mallory's plot. I relate to that NOW. I mean, Mallory's good with kids. She listens to what the parents tell her to do. What right does some over-indulgent stuck-up playground mom have to tell her differently? Yes, I have had to deal with those things myself. Perfect strangers telling me how I should treat my kids. RME. I liked how Mallory stood up to her without being rude. She was respectful, and just didn't say much. Unlike me, but I'm not an 11 yr old child either.
