^ I missed that sentence. Poor clueless Stacey. I always saw Robert as a player and couldn't stand him. One thing I just happened to think of today (don't know why these things pop into my mind , MA and Logan's "together but apart" (which I always considered kind of dumb but I guess I understand why they did it) reminded me of Ross and Rachel on Friends - "we were on a break!" ;D

I was just watching Friends as I read that. I am a huge Friends fanatic, so I can see that totally.

hahahaha I love Friends as well! Good catch, aln, it really is like that. One of the few things I remember about this book (only read it once) is the together but apart thing and how they mentioned it and then... it was like never brought up again. They never actually went anywhere with it!

^ Glad I thought of the Friends connection. Things like that just randomly pop into my head sometimes ;D I remember the Together but Apart thing being mentioned again at the very end when they agreed that it didn't work. I'm not surprised since I think not forcing the situation either way would be better - spend time together only when you want to but don't purposely stay apart just for its own sake. That seems kind of dumb.

The whole together but independent thing annoyed me and confused me. I never completely got what they were trying to do. If you cared about somebody that much why would you want to spend time apart from each other on vacation?

^ I had forgotten about that but think I vaguely remember it. When did he want the lei, when they first arrived? Also, weren't some of the boys goofing off at the party at the end in this one? I really need to reread - this is my favorite SS ;D

He wanted the lei when they landed, but they got them when they left.

Isn't this also the one where Logan really wanted a lei? Shouldn't this be in the "BSC and sexuality" thread?

^ ;D Never even considered that but it gave me a good laugh this morning. Took me a second, though, since my brain is still asleep ;D

Read this again and I have to say it's one of my least liked super specials...the storylines just don't seem that interesting really. My favorite parts were probably Claudia's, Mallory's, and Abby's chapters. Dawn on beach cleanup - reminded me of when she did a similar thing in Mary Anne and the Memory Garden. And after the trip, writing to those kids that helped her? She knew them for like, three minutes Mary Anne/Logan - yawn. I wish MA would have just spent time with Logan if she really wanted to, instead of regretting it after the trip. Stacey - often finds herself in dangerous situations, doesn't she? She was already in a car crash in California Girls, now it's a helicopter crash.

^ Agree about the least favorite chapters. Dawn's especially annoyed me - probably because of the similarity to Memory Garden, which was my least favorite subplot ever. I also thought Stacey was kind of annoying and didn't get the MA and Logan stuff. I did find many of the chapters funny, though, and recently decided this is one of my favorites. The first time I read it, though, I really didn't like it. Who knows what I'll think next time ;D

I'm not really a fan of this one. It's all right, but not my favourites by any means. I can't quite put my finger on it - I think it's because nothing really happens in it, nothing new, that is: the crash, the beach clean-up, the mandatory baby-sitting job. The location could've made up for it, but Jessi's descriptions weren't all that great (plus I don't like reading her handwriting!). Her behaviour reminds me of her "super sitter" attitude in Sea City, Here We Come! I know Jessi was sad Mal couldn't come, and I think the scrapbook was a really sweet idea, but it seems like Jessi almost wasted her vacation by writing about it and not experiencing it.
The good stuff? Abby's chapter was pretty funny, even if it was far-fetched that she was in a commercial. And I enjoyed the Stoneybrook chapters, which surprises me. Jenny P. finally getting what's coming to her? Awesome.
Oh, and I love that picture of Dawn in one of her chapters - the one where she's standing in front of some scenic view. She looks so cute!
